[E.N: After a year's absence the national anarchist meeting is back and will be held at
Marama-iti, a rural collective near Wanganui, from Thursday 4 to Sunday 7 December.]
For those who hadnt noticed, the Anarchist tea party website
(http://www.geocities.com/anarchistteaparty) has been updated
with more details on the timetable and events. (reproduced below).
Its certainly looking far better than the first timetable. eg it
now has some optional workshops with politics in them, as opposed
to none at all as it did a few weeks ago!
THE ANARCHIST TEAPARTY
NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM 2003
The Anarchist Tea Party is primarily an event for
anarchists to meet, share knowledge and skills and
leave with the inspiration and motivation to make
anarchism a central of their lives. Workshops There
will be several main workshops held each morning
followed by discussion groups on a variety of topics
that will be run according to interest.
Collectives and consensus decision making;
the in's and out's of collectives: what they're about
and how to successfully work as one. This is to
designed to help us all through the weekend and to
move on from there.
Surviving activism;
Eileen Cassidy (87) will talk about her life of
activism as an anarchist and just what motivates and
inspires her to keep agitating for change. This will
lead onto an open discussion about how to stay
motivated and focused as anarchists.
Redefining relationships;
Wendy-O-Matik from the US is here in Aotearoa on a
speeking tour to promote her book and we are damned
excited to hear that she is keen to talk about open
relationships!
Education and de-schooling;
George and Shaun will give the run down on how the
state is fucking with our heads, how to shed it all
and get on with the real learning.
Common Ground;
a facilitated talk about the differences within our
movements, the barriers that exist and how we can find
common ground to work together. Why do anarchists
argue amongst them selves? Why are there so few women
and indigenous people involved? Why indeed.
Living outside capitalism;
We want your experiences, ideas and dreams! Group talk
to inspire and motivate, whether it be your work,
home, food, fun, transport. whatever, it's time to
walk the talk and live anarchy!
Networks;
On the last day we want to make a commitment to set up
regional and national networks that will work together
on a variety of projects, from propaganda to
lifestyle. Some suggested ideas include: a national
newspaper, web portal for everything Anarchist related
in Aotearoa, an accommodation network, skills
register, another conference.
Discussion Groups
Discussion groups to be held over the weekend will be
timetabled on Thursday night according to interest and
the wishes of those intending to participate. Friday
and Saturday afternoon are available for these
workshops. This list is not definite as people are
still putting proposals to us as we get closer to the
conference. So far they include:
Introduction to Linux computer systems
Water privitisation
NZ involvement in the Isreal/Palestine war
Anarcho-Feminism
Anarchist history in NZ
De-colononisation
