Contrary to public opinion, May Day was celebrated
all over the US this year, just as it was last year.
Here is what I have compiled so far, if there are
any actions not listed, please e-mail me at
progressivepix at yahoo dot com or reply with them here.
In collating May Day events all over the US, not just
in Boston, San Francisco, Chicago and New York but
in Utah, Arizona, and Colorado (and last year I found
events in Kentucky, Louisiana, Texas and so forth), I
realized how big of a celebration it was even within
the US. Unfortunately we feel like our May Day actions
are isolated in the US due to the corporate media's
blockout of them, except on local news if there is
some sort of altercation with law enforcement. That's
why things like Indymedia and Infoshop are helpful - I
couldn't have started collating this list without
resources like Indymedia. Putting this list together
inspired me last year, and this year, as I realized
a progressive, pro-worker May Day celebration was
bigger in the US then I had realized, hopefully this
will make you realize your actions were not as isolated
as corporate media makes you think, and will give you
some inspiration like it gave me. Let's make May Day
2004 even bigger and better!
