Direct Action On July 4th, 2003, people across the country will be
"celebrating" a military "victory" over "terrorism" and "evil."
The real evil at work is the system of domination that allows
militarism and the state to perpetuate global imperialism. We must
be willing to show direct opposition to these forces of oppression
and domination.
> Why Fort Leavenworth, Kansas?
Fort Leavenworth is located in Eastern Kansas, 45 minutes from
Kansas City to the East and 45 minutes from Lawrence, in the West.
Fort Leavenworth was the first settlement in Kansas in the early
1800's.

In 1881, the Command and General Staff College was formed at
Fort Leavenworth. The CGSC is the Army's senior tactical school. It
develops officers able to lead fighting units at the tactical and
operational levels of war. The CGSC trains over 22,000 officers
annually through its resident and non-resident programs.

Since that time, Fort Leavenworth has also become home to the
Combined Arms Center. "The mission of the Combined Arms Center
(CAC) is to educate officers in the art of command and staff
functions of the combined arms at the tactical level, and to educate
officers in the operational art of war. CAC has responsibility for
writing the doctrine for war fighting at the division and corps levels.
CAC has a training development function for leader development
and battle command, and for experimenting with the concepts,
methods, procedures and means of battle command. In addition,
CAC is responsible for providing vigorous training exercises for
commanders and staffs, from brigade through corps levels, in the
exercise of battle command."

"The major activities of CAC include the U.S. Army Command and
General Staff College, the TRADOC Deputy Chief of Staff for
Training - West, the Futures Development and Integration Center
which includes the Information Operations Proponency office, and
the Garrison Command. Also located at Fort Leavenworth is the
U.S. Disciplinary Barracks, a Department of Defense facility; and the
Threat Support Directorate, Foreign Military Studies Office and the
Air Force Doctrine Center, activities that provide support
Army-wide to include TRADOC and CAC. Major tenant units
include: The TRADOC Analysis Center, the Requirements
Documentation Directorate, the Force Design Directorate, the
Headquarters of the Army National Guard's 35th Infantry Division
(Mechanized), the Army National Guard Battle Command Training
Center, and the Army Reserve's 2-383 Training Support Battalion."
