 (24 de Out.), decorreu no Porto, espaço CAAA/Terra Viva, a
 apresentação/discussão pública do texto federador da Alternativa
 Social do Porto (ASP).
 Estiveram presentes, para além de diversas pessoas que ainda não

500 people dance against the FTAA in Sao Paulo
 One day after the 5 thousand people march that took the streets of Sao 
 Paulo, Brasil, about 5 hundred people ocuppied Republica Square in downtown 
 Sao Paulo for a street party against the FTAA.
 A huge sound truck with PGA/ AGP banners and lots of dancing music made the 
 crowd dance all night against the FTAA.
 The party was a continuation of protests against the FTAA/ ALCA summit 
 meeting in Quito, Ecuador. It wanted to take people to occupy...

The highly successful 3rd Grassroots Gathering brought together
 over one hundred environmentalists, anarchists, and other
 assorted troublemakers from across the island and beyond. There
 were almost 20 different workshops on a wide variety of topics
 including Gender, Direct Action, Social Centres, Reclaim the
 Streets, Sectarianism, and Forest Gardens.

 Trevor Bark's argument ('Counts defend the
 countryside', 5th October) is based, in part, on the
 premise that the Countryside Alliance has won the battle
 of ideas in the countryside. May I suggest that he and
 other readers of Freedom shouldn't fall for the
 propaganda put out by the mass media and the Alliance
 itself. The battle of ideas in the countryside continues,

 War Resisters' International learned today that Turkish conscientious
 objector Mehmet Bal, who was imprisoned on 24 October, is on hunger strike.
 Mehmet Bal was arrested on 24 October, when he presented himself to the
 military. On the next day, he was transferred to the Military Prison in
 Adana, where he refused to wear the prison uniform. He then was sent to the
 colonel, who gave order for him to look alive. ...
