(en) Germany, LIKOS: Solidarity is our weapon! (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Date Mon, 30 Jan 2023 08:44:53 +0200

We went to the post office this morning to show solidarity with the striking colleagues and at the same time to try to spread criticism of the idea of a fair wage via flyers: ---- Solidarity is our weapon! ---- Ver.di demands 15% more wages for all postal workers - that is correct in view of the 8% price increase in 2022 alone and deserves support. ---- The blatant workload in the Corona period and also in 2022 was fobbed off with 2 x 300 euros "bonus", while the group made the biggest profits of all time. The nationwide underground personnel planning in the last year has downright guaranteed overwork and turned the everyday work of the colleagues into a stress hell and health hazard. That there shouldn't even be an adjustment for inflation in the new wage round is really outrageous.
So the sentence that appears in all of the union's calls that the 15% increase is "necessary, fair and feasible" sounds really good.

But: for post-capital, in the competition of the "free market" it is necessary to keep wages as low as possible without lowering the quality of work. An irreconcilable contradiction to the vital interests of the workers. This contradiction will never end, even if this time 8 or even 10% more wages are paid. After the industrial dispute is always before the industrial dispute.

At the same time, ver.di's slogan perpetuates the false notion that a good life can be had from wages - if only the wages are paid fairly. But the whole relationship between capital and workers is based on exploitation, on the fact that we create much more value than what is paid for. And of course under state coercion, because private ownership of the means of production (e.g. sorting machines) is protected by the monopoly on the use of force.

Ver.di says that something is only feasible if our lifetime and health are squandered into profits for the company - no matter what we actually need for ourselves and our families. It is therefore as clear as day that the "free market economy" with its regular crashes is a threat to all wage earners and often enough a catastrophe.

CAPITALISM IS THE CRISIS OF OUR LIFE AND MUST BE DISCARDED.
We can see how this could work in the germ form of this strike - through the solidarity of all the exploited and ruled against the impositions of state and capital.

SOLIDARITY IS OUR WEAPON!
