(en) France, UCL AL #334 - International, International Solidarity: Let's continue to defend the revolution in Rojava (ca, de, it, fr, pt, tr)[machine translation]

This fall, many demonstrations of support were held in different cities in support of the political and social revolution underway in Kurdistan. Several of our groups from the Great West were mobilized alongside Kurdish comrades. ---- UCL activists from Brittany were present on December 17 at the anniversary of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party, Partiya Karkerên Kurdistan) organized by the Kurdish Democratic Center of Rennes and which brought together around 200 people . Music, dances and political speeches followed one another all afternoon in a joyful and invigorating atmosphere, punctuated by slogans for women's freedom, the release of Öcalan and support for the resistance of Kurdish fighters.
In Fougères the links with the Kurds are tightening. Two demonstrations against the chemical weapons used by Turkey against Kurdish fighters have taken place in recent months, co-organized by the Kurds and the local UCL group. We were about fifty each time. The Fougerais self-managed social center hosts meetings of the Kurdish movement on its premises and plans to organize a Kurdish music concert at the start of 2023.

In Brest, a collective has emerged bringing together Kurdish and Iranian comrades as well as a dozen local political organizations, trade unions and associations. Thanks to this unitary approach, nearly 300 people mobilized on December 3 in Brest in support of the revolutionary movements in Iran and Kurdistan. This success, both in terms of mobilization and in terms of animation, calls for others. One of the weak points, however, remains the lack of media coverage.

Indeed, on the Iranian side, only the women's movement manages to find a favorable echo to the detriment of the deeply social character of the revolt (strikes for example). As for Rojava, we are very far from the media focus of Kobanê in 2015, and the revolution remains invisible to the eyes of the general public.

In Brittany, UCL was also present alongside the Kurds in Rennes, Lorient, Nantes and Morlaix.

Now we must do everything possible for the success of the event in tribute to Sakine Canciz, Fidan Dogan and Leyla Söylemez which will take place in Paris on January 7, 2023.
