(en) NZ, auckland Tamaki Makaurau Anarchists: #99 fortnightly newsletter (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Date Mon, 19 Sep 2022 07:31:37 +0300

Kia ora and welcome to the ninety ninth Auckland activist fortnightly newsletter! COVID-19 Omicron cases have kept going down in Auckland, but there's still over a thousand cases a day and it's cold, so please keep doing what you need to do to stay safe, warm and dry! You can get the latest ---- The biggest campaign in Auckland happening right now is Protect Putiki: https://linktr.ee/protectputiki on Waiheke Island, where kaitiaki are protecting Putiki Bay from a colonial and environmentally harmful marina development by Kennedy Point Marina Development Limited through peaceful direct action. The kaitiaki have suffered massive amounts of violence from private security guards and police, but their peaceful direct action is resisting the development every day.

If you can go to Waiheke Island, then the kaitiaki need more people who can bear witness. If you can't go to Waiheke Island, then you can help through donating money and supplies, sharing the campaign's content on social media, signing petitions and open letters, attending solidarity rallies, attending court hearings of kaitiaki who have been arrested by police, popping a manu, recording it on video and tagging Protect Putiki and talking to your friends and whanau about the campaign.

A range of other events will be happening throughout August, such as Wages & Houses Mayoral Forum on Thursday 15 September from 6pm at St Matthew-in-the-City, Our Own Devices: Queer Zine-Making Workshop on Saturday 17 September from 3pm at the Makerspace at Auckland Central City Library, Tuku Whenua Livestream on Sunday 18 September from 6am at various Auckland locations or online via Facebook, Community Gardening Day @ The Auckland Women's Centre on Sunday 18 September from 10am at 4 Warnock Street, Timebank Tuesday: Equinox Celebration on Tuesday 20 September from 6.30pm at Gribblehirst Community Hub, Global Climate Justice Strike on Friday 23 September from 1pm at Aotea Square, March for a Republic on Saturday 24 September from 10am at Aotea Square and Free Shop Hosts: September Really Really Free Market on Saturday 24 September from 12pm at 2 Claude Brookes Drive, Henderson.

Spring has started but it's begun with some cold, so use this new season as an opportunity to get more involved in activism!
We are an explicitly anarchist group in Auckland, about a year old, struggling for a better, fair and equal world. We are always open to new members. To find out more, come along to a public meeting, or you can find us at tamakimakaurauanarchists@gmail.com.
