(en) Greece, APO: Solidarity in E. | Meeting: Wed. 18/9, Court of Appeal | Anti-patriarchy group (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Date Sun, 6 Oct 2024 06:18:42 +0300

On Wednesday, September 18, the appeals court of the Ilioupoli trafficking case will start again. At the start of the proceedings in the second degree, in February 2024, we once again witnessed a vulgar attack by the defendants' advocates against E. and her credibility, with insults to the face of the 19-year-old, shouts and threats to the solidarity world. A condition which is a constant tactic of the defense lawyers of traffickers, rapists and murderers who, in a complete inversion of reality, attempt to slander and terrorize their victims and their families. A condition that is possible thanks to the full coverage and tolerance of the institutional judicial authorities, as we saw throughout the evolution of the case of E. but also in the case of Colonos and during the appeal court of the case of the murder of Zack Kostopoulou/Zackie oh.
The attempt to terrorize E. and the efforts to transform her from victim to perpetrator have started from the first moment she breaks her silence and denounces her hostage and exploitation. In July 2021, she finds the strength and with the solidarity of a local cafe worker, she manages to escape from the apartment in Ilioupoli in which she was held captive by the pimp cop D. Bouyoukos who systematically threatened, tortured, raped and extradited her. From the police station, where she goes to file a complaint, to the internal affairs department and even to the hospital, where she is taken with characteristic delay, she is treated as an accused. She is kept in solitary confinement, cut off from her mother and lawyers and is not provided with any psychological support. While afterwards, wherever she is forced to live at an unknown address since she is the recipient of constant threats from the trafficking ring, of which she was a victim, the only help she has for her psychological and material support comes from a sympathetic world.
With the start of the trial in the first instance, the judicial authorities subject her to a torturous procedure, during which she is forced to testify behind closed doors with only those present who raped her, abused her and betrayed her; completely exposed to slander, insults, intimidation and intimidation by her father who raped her since she was a child, by the policeman Buyuko, by her second rapist and also by the defenders of the mobsters and the rapists * with the headquarters refusing to examine key elements of the case that had come in the light, from which it emerged that the case was connected to that of the Greek police mafia and the trafficking rings* with the humiliating questions from the headquarters and the slanders from the lawyers against her mother and brother who were judged as unreliable and irresponsible, aligning with the testimony of the rapist's father; forced to describe everything she suffered without anyone of her own being able to be with her and with the solidarity world outside the halls fighting with the police forces to stand; and with her in the end rejected first instance decision where the father is acquitted, D. Bouyoukos although found guilty of human trafficking (only in the case of E. because the court refused to take into account the statements of the other victims who according to their right could and not to attend), is suspended and released and only the so-called "Daniel", a pimp of E. is found guilty and sent to prison. While Marina's son, the person who was directly connected to other trafficking cases, such as that of the 12-year-old girl from Colonos, is also acquitted.
Now, a year and a half after the first instance decision, apart from the fact that the pimp Buyoukos has threatened E., her family as well as the solidarity world that supported her throughout this journey, with public posts, and since he continues his life unhindered by drumming up that in addition to being a mobster, rapist and cop he is also a fascist, the civil justice decides to prosecute E. in order to continue this chain of constant threats, terrors and vindictiveness against a man who, by denouncing her exploitation, shed light on the darkest, rotten parts of the reality created by the barbaric world of state and capitalism.
In a crescendo of absurdity and vulgarity, on February 26, 2024, the Greek judiciary summons E. as an accused for acts she did during the time she was under the control and threats of the pimping ring and indeed based on the lawsuit filed by D. himself. Buyoukos, i.e. the cop convicted of human trafficking who extradited her. The trial, which will result in E.'s acquittal, once again demonstrates the need of the rotten patriarchal, exploitative and oppressive system to cover up the trafficking rings, to wash away and throw away those involved.
This attack, like all the previous ones, could not succeed thanks to the solidarity of the world, which stood up to the terrorism and the provocative rhetoric that is trying to be imposed inside and outside the courtrooms. In this direction, we will stand by E. and the appeals court of the trafficking case, which starts in a few days. And we will do the same every time and in every case that the catalytic role of institutions in cultivating, reproducing and covering up patriarchal violence is confirmed. As in the trial of the Colonos case, where, after the trafficking ring was first excluded and after the partial conviction of Mihos, the judicial authorities in an act of revenge attempt to re-prosecute the mother of the 12-year-old. In fact, at the same time that the young girl herself is exposed to the attacks and threats of people who were accused of being her rapists and who, by the decision of the judicial authorities, are now free. As we found ourselves in the appeals court of the murderers of Zack Kostopoulos/Zackie oh!
With solidarity as our weapon to fight those battles that will topple the bankrupt world of state, capitalism and patriarchy. Let the exploited and oppressed fight for the building of a society whose compass will be life based on freedom, equality, justice and solidarity. In tomorrow's society of Emancipation and generalized Self-Direction.
