Legitimate doubts and questions which, however, risk ignoring the 
elephant in the room, the macroscopic data which seems to show no sign of
subsidence: the only trend that seems to be incontrovertible for more 
than a decade now is that of abstentionism.

The data is clear: of those entitled to vote in the Italian peninsula, 
only 50% went to the polls in this round of voting. This percentage, 
analyzed further and i.e. reported to the regional realities, 
immediately shows us another question: in none of the southern regions 
did the turnout reach 50%, reaching its most negative peaks in the two 
largest islands (Sicily 38%, Sardinia 36.89%) and in the rest of Italy 
even recent voting percentages are not reached.

Whether it is reasoned or not, whether it is the sign of disillusionment 
with an instrument of government where representativeness is an 
essential value
disused by the political class, which is a signal towards Europe which 
is seen as distant by citizens, abstentionism must however be
evaluated by politics and people.

So what can we attribute this "disaffection" of the Italian people to 
the instrument of voting? There is a clear disconnect between a class
politics that is no longer able to communicate with its electorate, and 
vice versa an electorate that no longer sees anything in this class
to whom you can represent yourself or to whom you can turn and entrust 
your daily and long-term problems.

The cases of Vannacci and Salis are paradigmatic even if opposite and 
direct us towards a process of constant "mediatisation" of Italian 
politics: parties, programmes, proposals are no longer voted on, but the 
characters, faces, symbols of always an antagonism
more polarized between a right and a left which, despite having lost a 
large part of their values, remain alive as stereotypes and specks of 
themselves, functional to a process of centralization in single figures 
and a bipolarism which becomes a clash between two social profiles.

Above these questions it should be remembered that the world is about to 
slide into an economic-strategic world war and the nightmare of wars 
that kill defenseless civilians, the living conditions in which the 
majority of this world finds itself, 282 million people (estimates FAO 
2023) who suffer from hunger and thirst, the injustices of regimes with 
crimes against humanity and anything else that does not make people free to
live in this world, must be the true objectives of European politics but 
above all of all of us.

In this Europe that is preparing for the market of post-vote alliances, 
we are on the side of the exploited people who see the cost of living 
rising, the dismantling of healthcare in favor of private individuals, 
as in the United States, a constant centralization of wealth...

...and they also have to endure the electoral litany from a political 
class that does not share the objectives with the people and that
sees the elections as a simple tussle to win a seat where one can look 
after one's personal interests, polarizing the debate
public when needed, feeding it only with a now structural poisonous 
dynamic that has a vintage flavor: pro USA or pro Putin, Israel or 
Palestine?

The only certainty that history can tell us is that the social hierarchy 
suppresses the most in favor of those few who with their wealth can 
afford not to be afraid of an impending war, of seeing their loved ones 
lost due to a bomb or even
just not to make it to the end of the month.
