(en) Brazil, FOB: National Communiqué - 8M: The struggle and organization as a way out for women of the people (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]
Date

March 8 represents the International Day of Working Class Women, we at FOB
understand the issue of women and overcoming sexism and patriarchy as a
fundamental condition for building a new world (socialism). ---- It is visible
that trends inside and outside the electoral left, seek to empty that date of
meanings, seek to unlink the understanding that our freedom will be impossible
within capitalism. That is why it is necessary to rescue the spirit of New York
seamstresses, who in 1908 fought for better working conditions, and in 1911 had
their lives taken in a fire; of the Russian workers, who in 1917 fought for bread
and peace; Laudelina de Campos and several domestic workers, who in 1936 created
unions to fight for their rights here in Brazil; of the zapatista women, who in
the 90's self-organized and built new possibilities for the world; of Kurdish
women, who fight for the right to be what they are and teach us to have hope; of
indigenous and peasant women from colonial Brazil, who have always fought for
land and freedom. These examples inspire us and teach us that the way to overcome
our problems is the systematic fight against capitalism and all the ills it
causes us.
Women's struggle is not an accessory, which can be taken and put on when they
deem it necessary, we are constantly violated in different ways. In Brazil, every
4 hours a woman suffers some type of violence, we have no security, neither at
home nor on the streets, the number of cases of femicides only increase and every
day at least one woman is murdered for being a woman , in the same way Brazil is
one of the countries that most kill the Trans population in the world. There are
so many cases that demonstrate the State's impotence and connivance with violence
against women, even more so when this female identity is not biological, a State
that legitimizes our massacre. This is why our fight is vital, because we are
literally fighting for our lives!
Our indignation cannot be temporary, we have to build solutions to our problems,
build our support networks, build our self-defense, seek together with our own,
reverse this scenario. The struggle accompanies us and for us, working women, it
becomes increasingly necessary to organize ourselves to bury what, on a daily
basis, wants our end. Let us remember, and honor, those who fought before us so
that we could be here. Our historic challenge is to break with a liberal logic,
which presents individual solutions to our problems, machismo and patriarchy are
structural and structuring of this system, so it will not be palliative solutions
that will change this. Understanding what and who our enemies are directs our
strength to build a world where we are not afraid to be a woman!
THE PEOPLE'S FIGHT IS THE WOMAN'S FIGHT!
THE WOMAN'S FIGHT IS THE PEOPLE'S FIGHT!
FORWARD WORKING WOMEN!
