Reopening an age-old debate is never easy. Relations between the organs of power, politics, trade unions and social movements are complex, and the interpenetrations multiple. Behind these questions lies an essential issue: that of the autonomy of the social movement, of the search for a political outlet for the struggles. ---- Independence, autonomy or subservience of the trade union movement to political parties : these issues run through social movements and continue to polarize debates among those who want to change society. ---- This new issue of the review Les Utopiques offers us, as usual, views, sensibilities, cross-experiences and reflections more focused on politics around the Charter of Amiens (which, voted by the CGT in 1906, assigns to trade unionism the " double task, daily and for the future " aimed at transforming the world while leading the immediate protest struggle), around the common program of government, the role of the trade union leaderships.

CGT and Solidaires trade unionists wonder together about these misguided political outlets that were the presidential election of 1981, the relationship of the CGT to the French Communist Party, of the CFDT to the Socialist Party in 1974. The present time is not forgotten , with analyzes of the " alternative " municipalities (through the example of Grenoble) or the plan of the collective "More Never That".

Several international contributions bring other perspectives, other practices, other links to politics in Great Britain, Brazil or Spain. Everything is completed by a feminist approach to relationships with power and inequality. Alongside the central file, another important moment: that of trade union strategies against the far right.

As you will have understood, this issue is rich in food for thought. Plural in its approaches, like the social movement, always reformulating, rediscovering itself in the richness of its components.
