I'm not sure if many will find this post appropriate here, but I hope
some will find this worthwhile checking out.

I am a strong believer in reason and rationality, and in the fundamental
importance of rationality in the success of social and political movements.
And I think that superstion, and its counterpart, fundamentalist religon
are, more often than not, the tools of state oppression.

Let me also say, before I go further, that I am an atheist, however, I am

That is why I ask you all to support the James Randi Educational Foundation,
it was recently founded this year by the renowned psychic debunker and
illusionist James "The Amazing" Randi. Mr. Randi has, for over thirty years
been in the forefront of fighting the enemies of science and reason:
fraudulent religeous cults, "phycics", "healers", and creationist and other
purveyors of psudo-science.

Mr. Randi's efforts are generally apolitical, however, I feel that his work
is of critical, albeit pollitically indirect, importance to the overall
success of any rational progressive pollitical movement.

become the ingrown habit of a people, and when any attempt to impair them
will meet with the violent resistance of the populace."
