(en) France, UCL AL #322 - Spotlight, La Poste: the strike, a picket inside, a picket outside (ca, de, it, fr, pt)[machine translation]

Date Sun, 9 Jan 2022 09:44:05 +0200

Since November 15, 70 undocumented workers at the DPD sorting center (subsidiary of La Poste) in Coudray-Montceaux (91) have been on strike and have occupied part of their workplace. They are employed by DPD or by the Derichebourg temporary agency which co-manages the site. They demand Cerfas from their employer, and ask for their regularization. ---- Derichebourg and the La Poste group, via its subsidiaries and subcontractors, are champions of the employment of undocumented migrants. In this sorting center, management imposes, under penalty of end of mission, working days of twelve hours, unpaid overtime at the start of service, and hellish rates: 150 to 300 packages per hour, or three times more than in a sorting center of La Poste parent company. However, we are talking about extremely heavy packages such as furniture !

A real modern slavery which it is difficult to imagine the existence in France. An exploitation to the point of death, like one of their colleagues who collapsed on his way home after too long a day last July.

At the initiative of this fight, the Collective of undocumented workers of Vitry, which in 2019 led the long struggle of Chronopost d'Alfortville. After seven months of occupation, this had allowed the regularization of a hundred Chronopost workers, but also external support. This fight is supported by trade unions by Solidaires 91 and SUD-PTT, which organize logistical support: kitty, tents, warm clothes.

SOUTH elected representatives of DPD also make it possible to relay their demands to the group's social bodies. Support widens with the creation of a united collective, bringing together activists from all walks of life.

A fight left to last, an indecent direction
After the experience of Chronopost, the strikers know that the struggle could last for months. They are divided into two stakes which they occupy night and day. One inside the site and the other at its entrance. The comrades on the inside picket could no longer be reached, and the management initially refused to let anything in. The town hall of Corbeil finally made them give in for the water, and doctors were able to see the strikers, who in very cold weather quickly had frostbite on their feet. After a week, it is still impossible to bring in food.

DPD has launched a summary to remove the internal stake. Whatever the result, the outside picket line will be maintained until the strikers have obtained their Cerfas. Many initiatives will soon be organized against the La Poste group, Derichebourg or even the prefecture. It will then be necessary to be at their side! The Libertarian Communist Union demands the regularization of all !
