(en) Czech, AFED: Free Palestine - Brief reports from demonstrations of solidarity with oppressed Palestinians [machine translation]

The Anarchist Federation (AF) has declared on its website its opposition to the apartheid and ethnic cleansing practiced by the State of Israel and its solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians. Representatives of the Prague AF group also took part in the March for Palestine on Friday, May 21. ---- Prague ---- According to our estimates, 400-600 people gathered in Klárov in Prague that day to express their opposition to the violent and illegal expulsion of Palestinians from the Sheikh Jarrah district and police violence against civilians in Jerusalem and Gaza. Traditionally, the pro-Israel Czech media spoke of only dozens of participants, although it was clear from the photographs that this was nonsense. Palestinians living in the Czech Republic arrived at the event as they had to flee the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Jews opposed to Israeli apartheid under the banner of the Jewish Voice of Solidarity were also present. The demonstration began after the second hour with a series of speeches. A representative of the Czech section of the International Solidarity Movement or the well-known slamer Toucan spoke. A representative of the Jewish Voice of Solidarity said: "Israel presents itself as a democratic establishment.

Around three o'clock, the crowd marched to the Israeli embassy, led by the banner "Stop the killig in Palestine. End the occuppation ". There were a number of Palestinian flags and pennants, pickets (usually in English) for the human rights of the Palestinians, against genocide, colonialism and ethnic cleansing, saying that the oppressed had become oppressors or that anti-Zionism was not anti-Semitism. Photographs of victims of the Gaza bombing and destroyed buildings were on display. "Free Palestine" was chanted all the time. Around half past three, the march approached the Israeli embassy. About thirty supporters of Israeli apartheid politics with the flags of the State of Israel stood and shouted in the adjacent park. The group, although no one threatened it, was protected by an even greater number of armed heavy-clothed men facing a pro-Palestinian demonstration.

There were still some speeches and chants. The Food not Bombs - Žižkov team, meanwhile, offered free Zapatista coffee. Before that, however, he had to show the police what was in the quarries. What were they waiting for? Hamas attack missiles from Žižkov? For the fifth time, the whole event ended.

About 15 people gathered in the center of the Moravian metropolis to express solidarity with Palestine. The Brno for Palestine initiative invites you to another event, on Friday 28 May from 7 pm on Dominikánské námestí (https://www.facebook.com/events/550568355972513/).

On the same day, the participants of the "Solidarity with the People in Gaza" walked through the streets of the Old Town with the banner "Solidarity is our weapon!" The Palestinians, representatives of Amnesty International Slovakia, the points of Turnover, From the Benches to the Streets and the Uprising continue, spoke at the event. A speech on current events was also given by a man from Colombia. Together, those present expressed solidarity with all the oppressed, seeking to emphasize the need to link social struggles in a common and ongoing struggle for freedom and justice.

Many demonstrations have taken place around the world in support of occupied Palestine. In London alone, 200,000 people gathered on Saturday 22 May. Hundreds, especially Jewish and Shabbat activists, blocked New York's Grand Army Plaza and called on Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer to immediately stop providing "military aid" to Israel.
