(en) [Russia] Capitalism and the state = a war! -- Declaration on the new Israel-Palestine conflict By ANA (pt)

Date Tue, 25 May 2021 09:26:47 +0300

Recent events in the Middle East, the brutal bombing of Israel and Gaza, resulting in the deaths, injuries and psychological trauma of hundreds or even thousands of people, inter-ethnic clashes and pogroms in Israel, as well as the confusion and often unilateral reaction of world anti-capitalist forces (including many anarchists) have led us, as anarcho-syndicalists and anti-nationalists, to make this statement. ---- We strongly condemn the entire chain of actions that led to a current military crisis: evictions of Arab residents from their homes, missile attacks on Israel from Gaza, bombing of Gaza by the Israeli army, acts of violence by Arab and Jewish nationalists. All of these acts have and cannot be justified.

It is quite obvious that the chain of criminal violence was launched in the interest of the political power of the Israeli and Palestinian governing circles. The Israeli right-wing government of Netanyahu and his Likud party, faced with the prospect of losing power, deliberately escalated and sparked the conflict. In turn, the authorities of the Palestinian Authority and the Hamas regime in Gaza considered it necessary to demonstrate that they are "defenders of national interests" of the Palestinian Arabs, on the eve of the next elections in Palestine. To compel the population to win their support, government circles on all sides resorted to tried and tested means: stirring up nationalism and provoking military hysteria.

The socioeconomic situation of workers in the region is increasingly catastrophic. Israel went through months of totalitarian and despotic blockade, when people were forbidden even to leave their homes and neighborhoods. The country is rocked by political and corruption scandals. Medicine and social services are ruined by neoliberal reforms. The housing problem has not been solved. The majority of the Arab population in Palestine and Israel live in extreme poverty. In Gaza, they suffer especially from both the Israeli blockade and the totalitarian policies of the Islamic Hamas regime. All of this cannot fail to cause profound discontent among the underprivileged strata of Jews and Arabs. To prevent his anger, sooner or later, from falling on the rulers and the rich, Israel and Palestine rulers are increasingly pitting Israeli and Palestinian workers against each other. As always, at the top - power, profits and benefits, at the bottom - suffering, blood and death!

The current military explosion must stop and, in one way or another, it will stop. But this will not lead to a resolution of the conflict. The problems in the region will not go away anywhere. They are generated by the power and property interests of rulers and capitalists on all sides, and can only be eliminated together with them: eliminated by the joint struggle and, ultimately, by the social revolution of ordinary Jewish and Arab, Israeli and Palestinians.

The path to this decision is difficult and is not closed. Too much despair, smell of blood spilled very fresh, the minds of ordinary people are very poisoned by Israeli (Zionist) and Arab nationalism, emotions are very much in touch today. But there is no other way to peace in the suffering region, and there cannot be. And the joint Jewish and Arab actions for peace that are already happening today, no matter how small, give us hope that one day it will be like this.

NO TO WAR! NO TO NATIONALISM, MILITARYISM AND RELIGIOUS FANATISM ON ALL SIDES!

NEITHER ISRAEL, NOR PALESTINE, BUT A JOINT CLASS STRUGGLE OF WORKERS IN THE REGION!

Confederation of Revolutionary Anarcho-Unionists - Section of the International Association of Workers in the Russian Region
