Report from a public event commemorating the victims of the pandemic and demanding the cessation of unnecessary industry ---- On Tuesday, March 9, the Prague group of the Anarchist Federation supported a public event organized by the Stop the Covid initiative together and fairly by lighting candles . The event itself began at five o'clock in the afternoon opposite the Office of the Government, and people could come with candles until eight o'clock in the evening. At the beginning, a few dozen people gathered on the spot with the banners "Let's protect lives, stop the industry" and ---- "Patents are killing. Vaccines for everyone! "To listen to a few messages in the next 20 minutes. First of all, nurse Barbora Tomšu from the ARO covid ward at the Tomas Bata Hospital in Zlín about the critical mental situation in which the medical staff finds themselves. Subsequently, the spokesperson for the initiative read its basic statements and requirements. Then came a reproduced message from biochemist Jan Trnka, who stated that individuals could not cope with the epidemic, but that it must be an action of the whole society that will protect the most vulnerable. He also added that the effects of the pandemic are felt especially by the poor and people outside big cities. It is necessary to focus on the virus disappearing from society.

Meanwhile, hundreds of mourning candles were added around the inscription "For unnecessary victims of the inability of the Czech government". There was also a petition booth and several media websites reported on the event, including a call to stop unnecessary industry, which is running covid necovid due to the profits of several individuals cheerfully on, while the leisure activities of ordinary people are limited. During the event, attention was paid to the second form of use of respirators.

On Wednesday, March 10, a similar event took place in Ostrava in front of the building of the Regional Chamber of Commerce of the Moravian-Silesian Region, where a banner "Save lives, stop the industry!" at work "," For unnecessary victims of incompetent government "," Patents kill, vaccines for all ", etc.

The statement of the Stop the Cvid initiative together and fairly states:

The Czech government is failing to fight the pandemic. Thousands of people are dying needlessly and at the same time we are facing a deep social crisis. The disease is an extreme burden for health professionals, parents, carers and educators, social workers or industrial workers, in short, for those with whom society stands and falls. The government refuses to protect human lives and ignores the situation of those who are fighting a pandemic with their own health. The restrictions are aimed at personal and family life, schools, culture and smaller shops. In contrast, there is an intact industry that generates primarily private profits. We demand an effective solution to the pandemic and a fair sharing of its social consequences.

We require:

1) Completely close the economy for four weeks (výjimkou except for vital operations where testing and vaccination will be provided. We demand sufficient compensation for loss of income for employees and sole proprietors, full compensation for all incomes up to average wages. Sufficient support for self-employed and small entrepreneurs. )

2) Really support health professionals and employees in social services. (We demand an increase in their wages and salaries so that it affects employees in the first two decades of their careers and acts as a prevention of their departure abroad. In addition, an immediate and significant risk surcharge. wages of all employees in social services by 10% Establishment of a non-stop crisis line and a team of therapists to support in mentally demanding situations, such as burnout, stress, loss of confidence.)

3) Take into account social justice measures. (We demand a moratorium on foreclosures and evictions of households. Distribution of rents due to a reasonable period of time or their assumption by the state. Coordinated food aid. Sickness of 100% of income, not only in March and April 2021, but also in the coming months. Nursing allowance of 100% of income for people with lower than average income and for single people, in the amount of 80% for others. Free distribution of respirators to all. Ensuring decent accommodation for all homeless people as during last spring's wave in Prague.)

4) Take the importance of schools seriously. (Schools should not be closed first, but only lastly, after restaurants and industry. The resumption of safe teaching must begin as soon as the viral load is reduced and must be accompanied by regular testing. for those who need it the most - socially weak pupils and students, or those who are lagging behind others in a profitable way. Let's not allow further increase inequalities in Czech education. It is also necessary to support non - profit organizations working with school children and to strengthen crisis lines for children and teachers.

5) Significantly speed up vaccination of the population. (We demand the even distribution of vaccines to all regions, and at international level suspend the patent protection of vaccines to allow faster production, local production and fairer distribution on a global scale.)

It is also necessary to prepare a vision of social renewal as soon as possible. We already know that at least 1.5 million people will be endangered. Resources need to be set aside to support them and measures need to be prepared. It is high time to start tackling the long-term pain of Czech society, which was exacerbated by the pandemic - for example, abolishing private executors and regulating housing prices. We need a bold and fair vision of social renewal, in which we invest in key areas of social life, such as care, education or healthcare, and the ecological transformation of the economy. One of the sources should be an extraordinary tax taking into account who wins in times of pandemic and who loses through no fault of their own. This tax should also correct the advancing oligarchization of Czech society and be primarily focused on large assets.
