At the author's request, we reprint an article on the importance of maintaining contact with our imprisoned comrades. Prison must fall! We have published the addresses of other imprisoned Italian anarchists here . ---- The prison experience only strengthened me in the importance of even seemingly small gestures such as writing letters to people in prison. It is not difficult for people "outside" and for people "inside" it can properly lift the mood and provide much needed strength. ---- I correspond with prisoners in different parts of the world. For example, in the so-called Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Greece, France, Belarus, Russia, etc. I plan to share the messages of these people from time to time to motivate others to write letters.

But I would like to mention first that correspondence with prisoners is, in my view, an unconditional form of solidarity. I don't have to agree with everything these people do, say or think about. Nevertheless, I want to be in solidarity with them, as with anyone else who has an organized crime called imprisonment. I do not want to be their judge and I do not even know whether the accusations against them are true or not. I do not recognize the prison system and I believe that no one should spend time in prisons, including those who have committed things that I perceive as problematic.

As long as there are prisons, I will write letters. I recommend the same to everyone. I now publish a message from a correspondence from a person named Nico Aurigemma. He is an anarchist who, along with four other people, was arrested on June 12, 2020 in Rome during Operation Bialystock. This repressive campaign has led to accusations of associating for the purpose of terrorism or subversion of democracy, a terrorist act with deadly equipment and explosives, possession and transfer of explosives, incitement to commit crimes against state figures and arson.

According to the Italian regime, this repressive police operation against the anarchists is the result of an investigation that began after the explosive attack on San Giovanni Carabinieri / police station in Rome on December 7, 2017, to which the Santiago Maldonado - FAI / FRI cell reported .

Nica's message from the letter:

Thank you very much for your words and solidarity. I remember you were in jail too, so you know it's important. I'm okay. This prison is not so bad and I am in good company with the old red comrades and some anarchists. Friends and comrades are close to me, so I strongly feel their solidarity.

I send you all solidarity and a great hug. Hi!
