(en) [Spain] Release: "Memories | Louise Michel" By ANA (ca, pt) [machine translation]

Date Mon, 28 Jun 2021 09:23:09 +0300

Louise Michel was one of the main figures of the Paris Commune which took place between March 18 and May 28, 1871. ---- In these autobiographical Memoirs, Louise Michel tells how the ideals that would lead her to be part of the Commune were forged in her. ---- Raised by her mother and grandparents in Vroncourt, she enjoys a peaceful childhood surrounded by books and poetry. His grandparents, each night, wrote in verse what happened during the day. She always wanted to be a poet, and can be seen in the different poems that appear in herMemories . ---- In Paris, she works as a teacher, and it is there that she goes to meetings with other women in which she debates the ideals that would give rise to the Commune.

Once the Commune is repressed, it is imprisoned along with other women. Others of his companions end up executed, as is the case of Théophile Ferré. She is later deported to New Caledonia and finally amnesty, she can return to Paris.

Louise Michel's Memoirs introduce us to her personality, her feelings, her convictions and her ideals about social justice and equality between men and women.

In the words of her editor, in 1886: "Anyone who approaches her for the first time is surprised to find themselves in front of an affable woman, from a good start, with a sweet voice, with eyes bright with intelligence and overflowing with kindness. After talking to her for a quarter of an hour, all sides disappear: everyone is subdued, enraptured, fascinated, conquered".
