(en) France, UCL - UCL Tract, March 8: against the oppression of women by men, we will be on strike and in the streets (ca, de, it, fr, pt)[machine translation]

Date Sun, 28 Feb 2021 09:23:27 +0200

When it's hard for everyone, it's worse for women. The epidemic context is no exception to this sad rule: there was even more violence within couples during confinement, women lose more jobs than men (women are in the majority in restaurants and commerce, precarious jobs they occupy in the majority are those which disappear), the first of the rope are even more exploited than usual (home helpers, nurses, seamstresses). ---- And yet confinement has shown that it is indeed thanks to caring for others in all its dimensions, listening, sharing and solidarity that we can survive capitalism and its crises. But the care and service professions have become invisible and discredited again. Because these are jobs for women, and often for women of color.

There are struggles, long and sometimes victorious but often neglected by the media. Among them, for 17 months, the strike by the women of the chambermaids of African origin at the Ibis Batignolles hotel has been an example.

All over the world, women are demonstrating against violence and for their rights
On March 8, 2018, the Zapatista women during a meeting which brought together 8,000 women from all over the world, affirmed the need to end the patriarchal capitalist system. Their message echoes the vibrant reality of Kurdistan's women's front and their experience within democratic confederalism.

Across Latin America, numerous demonstrations are organized to denounce feminicides under the slogan "Ni una menos" ("not one less").

In the United States, in Brazil, women have taken to the streets en masse against their far-right leaders.

In France, it is in the media and on social networks that women victims of the earliest patriarchal violence, incest, come forward so that no one is alone.

The right to abortion, an essential demand of our class
It is the poorest women who abort in poor conditions in countries where abortion is prohibited, the others leave or pay. Many women die from it or have serious consequences. Only about 50 countries allow abortion without conditions other than the time limit. To abort freely is to give birth freely, to make love freely, to free oneself from one of the consequences of rape, it is one of the first conditions of emancipation, of women's freedom. The victory of the women of Argentina is a great encouragement to women all over the world.

Towards a libertarian feminism
Women everywhere are choosing direct action and abandoning parliamentary action.

Everywhere they also make the choice of collective struggles against the patriarchal, capitalist, racist power in favor of all women.

As the Brazilian Anarchist Coordination writes: May feminism be a reality for women below and may the struggle of women grow and spread with combativeness, mutual support and sisterhood in all corners of the world.

In France too, we have to build collective struggles, everywhere but especially in the streets.

On March 8 we will be on strike and in the streets, for the sharing of domestic chores and the tasks of caring for others, for an anti-capitalist organization of work and production, for the respect of all identities and sexualities, for disappearance borders, for the end of violence committed by men. We are many, we are strong, we are going to change the world.
