(en) Greece, APO, landandfreedom.gr: Event for the educational restructuring-Placement of A.M.O. "Ataxia" [3rd Liberty Festival] [Traduction automatique]

Date Sat, 7 Aug 2021 09:37:39 +0300

On July 11, the third day of the 3rd Liberty Festival, the event for the struggles in education in an anarchist prism took place, entitled "Games in education: an anarchist perspective", which was attended by the Anarchist Student Assembly / three Quieta Movere, the Anarchist Student Ataxia group and teachers. At this event, extensive reference was made to the recent struggles given by pupils, students and teachers based on the latest educational restructurings, which are in progress. Teachers were also appointed who raised the issue of libertarian education as well as the organization from below.
Below you will find the position of the Anarchist Student Group "Ataxia":
Usually our texts started with a front page in the words of great anarchists who talked about education or said something about the subject we raise in our text. This time, however, we believe that at the beginning of our speech it would be good to quote the words of the Prime Minister of the country, who in the presentation of the new anti-education bill that is coming, said literally "there is no need and not everyone should go to university. "There are creative professions." So, while the new bill of ND is not ready yet, its intentions are already clear. Privatization of education is inevitable and with the new law on education things get worse, students function as future cheap labor from primary school and teachers are forced to evaluate and suck each other.
This new bill, then, is written in such a way that one must read behind the "beautiful" words (autonomy, freedom, etc.) to understand that the state is destroying education day by day. It creates a regime that excludes students from the system by creating a suffocating education for children from low-income families who do not have the financial means for tutoring, refugees and immigrants. With the new changes, the obstacles to the education of all children are multiplied by the commercialization of knowledge and education. We are now dealing with a school of hard and conservative neoliberal models with which the regression is intensifying.
Regarding the already existing anti-educational law for the secondary education, it is foreseen the restoration of the Theme Bank for the promotional examinations of the Lyceum and the weights in the examined courses of the pan-Hellenic ones. The grades of all the Lyceum classes are a factor for the integration of the students in a university. In high schools and lyceums, the examined courses are increased and the evaluation of educational and school units is introduced. After a while the government restores the characterization of conduct in the qualifications together with the multi-day abortions. It uses education for its benefit, since its goal is to stimulate urban thinking, completely indifferent to the essential education of young people. Degrades students' efforts, effort, the reading and the stress that pays them. It strengthens the class barriers that separate the student body based on their economic position in society. We know that the prevailing neoliberal barbarism corresponds to the students with numbers, thus measuring their value. The same thing is happening now with the teachers, giving even more power to the position of the principal, thus bullying students and teachers. In essence, these anti-educational changes are part of governments' long-standing effort to turn schools into birthplaces of easily compatible, helpless, cheap workers. We find it necessary to ask and reflect on the nature of this education we receive, that is, the shift of education to a technical education aimed at acquiring skills for a capitalist system of production. We understand that the sole purpose of the existing education system is to function as a means of cultivating and disseminating the ideas of the state that imposes its own educational model. It is true that schools, in the way they operate and in the prevailing educational system, have alienated man from knowledge. The school therefore prepares one to accept a society that offers only ready-made packages and programs for all aspects of his life.
Based on the above, we understand that the school in the capitalist society we live in has only to offer productive hands for the needs of capital, enslaved citizens in the service of the state, freedom and exploitation, competition, cannibalism and inequality. Today's school is the first authoritarian body we encounter in our lives and takes care to ensure in the state, in power and in capital their continuity, reproducing the narrative of modern totalitarianism, stifling any mood of resistance and change.
We also want to note the importance of generalizing the - in general - educational struggle. The main subjects in the field of education consist of pupils, students and teachers. We believe that all three of these groups are fighting in a common light, having common demands and needs. For this reason, it is particularly important that they coexist on the road and in the processes with the ultimate goal of shaping what we call the "universal education struggle".

It is extremely important to point out the specific time period, under the given circumstances, is the shift of the social perception of the state management of any social issue, whether it is the pandemic or education, to a questionable side. The current situation does not allow the state to continue to hide and has already sparked the manifestation of its real face. State repression is constantly intensifying its repeated blows to the world that reacts and clearly manifests its opposition to the insidious tactics of the government. However, we would like to emphasize that the world of struggle has also escalated its actions, as a result of which we see struggle centers springing up in every corner of the country, new people framing demonstrations, calls and cinematic processes thus showing that society as a whole continues and fights against state barbarism, protests against the anti-labor law, opposes the growing police violence, the state's vengeful attitude towards political prisoners, the abduction and torture of comrades and comrades. So, what these last months have shown us is that the government is no longer interested in keeping even the pretexts and, under pressure from the social base, is narrowing down to answers. However, it is revealed through the fighters that the fear has definitely changed camp. Society understands that it has to do with a mechanism that openly attacks students who demonstrate for the basics, to grassroots workers / three who claim what is due to them and to health workers for whom the state is completely indifferent in the midst of a pandemic. On the other hand, the cover it provides to rapists, fascists and cops becomes clear as it seeks to upgrade their attacks against the threat posed by those who resist.
We fight as anarchists because we believe that social, student as well as student self-organization is the most dangerous and effective way to oppose power and what oppresses us. And this is because it is the struggle from below that we give daily on the road to make this world better, it is the struggle to defend an education that is public and accessible to all, while preserving the prospect of another liberal education in a free society.
We believe that the right school is what acquaints us with the world. The school must be an active process that encourages, helps someone to develop and appreciate their abilities. The Libertarian school we want is de facto defending an anarchist ethic, it is a human process of evolution, creation, change that aims to revolutionize individuals and to change the existing structures in relationships and ways of communication. It is our duty as anarchists to highlight what oppresses us and to fight not only for another school, but for another society, for the world social revolution, anarchy and libertarian communism.
It is therefore the right time to stand wholeheartedly on the side of the oppressed, on the part of the organization and the resistance against the state institutions that oppress us. We aim at the fermentation of students, side by side with students and teachers, for the organization of our own resistance, for a school that instead of a social field of individualization and competition will become a place of expression of collective resistance and solidarity. From the new year we want our schools to become the bases of our resistance through squatting and interventions. Our struggle for a better education, but also for a better life, has not stopped and will not stop until we have what we deserve.
We as anarchists and as students will stand against what oppresses us, what suppresses our struggles for freedom and dignity. Based on solidarity, we demand a public and free education for each and every one of us. An education that aims at the acquisition of general knowledge and the development of criticism and not mechanical thinking. We do not want the school to be shaped by the interests of the state, the bourgeoisie and capital, curbing any revolutionary perceptions and spiritual reactions through authoritarian coercion and control over the student community. We want an education that does not steal the life and time of the students and does not promote personalization with rules and regulations made by the bosses that aim at the complete submission of the students. We are fighting for a school that will shape people with values, promoting the emancipation of every human being, contributing to the creation of a society of absolute solidarity, equality and self-organization. So we will fight for a better world. We call on all students, not to bet behind us or lead in front of us but to stand by us. Everything is now. So we will fight for a better world. We call on all students, not to bet behind us or lead in front of us but to stand by us. Everything is now. So we will fight for a better world. We call on all students, not to bet behind us or lead in front of us but to stand by us. Everything is now.
