(en) federacao anarquista gaucha FAG/CAB: Military killers, yesterday and today! Don't forget, never forgive! (ca, de, it, pt)[machine translation]

57 years have passed since the 1964 military coup, which put the country on a 21-year-long night, with harmful effects on all sectors of society. But the democratic transition negotiated and agreed upon by the military themselves did not remove them from the political scene, nor from the structures of the State. The reflection of this is evident in the Bolsonaro government, where the Armed Forces gained great space in the ministries, with active military personnel. The greatest tragedy occurred in Health, under General Pazuello, who contributed to the death of more than 310 thousand people so far, taking into account only the official figures, a true genocide of our people.

The Military Dictatorship, supported by imperialism and the most reactionary sectors of the ruling classes, formed Bolsonaro and the current generals who share the government and his genocidal project, which ignores the sanitary recommendations to deal with the pandemic, moves forward with the neoliberal cutting agenda in the public services and privatizations, and attacks popular movements. The end of the dictatorship left the Armed Forces untouched, which allowed Bolsonaro to be acquitted of a terrorist attack, and thus enter parliament as a representative of the military. The barracks' coup contributed to the 2016 coup, allowed the entrance to the barracks of the then deputy Bolsonaro to campaign, and thus paved the way for him to reach the presidency, with political support from his contemporaries in the Armed Forces, who saw it as an opportunity to have more power, under the self-proclaimed idea of protecting the other powers. Large sectors of the ruling classes supported the initiative, with the guarantee that everyone will win, while the lower ones are massacred in different ways.

It is important to remember the space given to the military by the previous governments of the New Republic, mainly the PT governments, for example in the "peace" missions in Haiti and in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which massacred the peoples of those countries, and formed the Brazilian Army to to oppress the people themselves, through Law and Order Guarantee (GLO) operations, in addition to the absurd military intervention in the security of Rio de Janeiro, which did not prevent the murder of Marielle Franco and Anderson Gomes, much less reached the those responsible for the crime. Not to mention the space given to the military in the cycle of mega-events, such as the World Cup and the Olympics, which increased the repressive apparatus and allowed generals to splash out on corruption, with the guarantee of impunity.

The bankruptcy of bourgeois democracy has lifted Bolsonaro and the military to power, and has rescued the coup discourse and a revisionism about the disgrace of the Military Dictatorship, which it persecuted, arrested, tortured and killed, including pregnant women and children. Barracks celebrate the Coup of 64, now with authorization from the Justice, which in several decisions rehabilitates the military regime, disrespecting the memory of the victims, many of them killed in the dictatorship's basements.

In the face of the turbulent situation of the last few days, it remains an error to analyze a sector of the left that divides the military into a "coup wing" and a "legalist wing". There is no loyalist general if he is occupying spaces of civilian command, even more active. It is a power struggle to manage State mechanisms, and what has been shown so far is that the military continues to understand that they are responsible for protecting Brazilian democracy, no matter what the cost. If we see generals in power resisting Bolsonaro's further advance on democracy, it is just a disagreement about the best way to continue oppressing our people, and to limit the democratic environment. It is not possible to discard any adventure, and we must be attentive to the movements.

This whole scenario has brought about some changes in recent years, with increasing numbers of the population asking for military intervention, which revealed all the problems of the slow and gradual transition from dictatorship to bourgeois democracy. The movement ended up being weakened by the action of organized left groups, which took to the streets to confront and corner the extreme right, showing the importance of direct action and class independence to change the balance of forces.

Recent experience has shown that the popular force of the oppressed classes is able to fight the fascist advance and can push the military back to barracks, from where they should never have left. More than any institutional power, it is the combativeness of the people in struggle, with direct democracy, that can change this situation of threats to collective freedoms and attacks on our rights. Since the movements in which we are inserted, we militants of the organizations that make up CAB continue to work in the construction of Popular Power, against the military coup, the attacks of the State and Capital, and against all types of oppression!
