(en) US, Washington, DC, The Self Described Anarchist Collective (SDAC) Releases UPDATED Schedule for the Anticapitalathon

Date Tue, 20 Apr 2010 10:04:54 +0300

The Anticapitalathon is under a week away and teams across the region are busy putting the final touches on their training for the competitions. To ease the last minute jitters and frantic packing, we've compiled some information that we hope will be useful for aspiring athletes. ---- Convergence Space ---- The Convergence Space will be located at the Electric Maid, 268 Carroll St NW DC. The Electric Maid is across the street from the 711 which is across the street/grass from the Takoma Red Line Metro Stop. It is also located along the 52, 53 and 54 or 14th Street bus line. Ample street parking in the neighborhood is available on the weekend, and 2 hour and metered parking is available on Friday. You can also pay to park at the Metro Parking lot for the whole day.

The Convergence Space will open at 9AM on Friday and will close at 4PM on Sunday. We hope to staff it close to around the clock for the duration of the Anticapitalthon.

The Electric Maid is a "community living room." It is a community space run by and for the surrounding community. We hope all Anticap. Athletes will respect that. However, to be clear, we've created a list of guidelines for use of the space:

* This is a safe and sober space. Drugs, alcohol, and intoxicated individuals are not welcome.

* No oppressive behavior.

* Clean up after yourself.

* Respect the space -- leave it in a better condition than you found it.

* No law enforcement in the space.

* No snitches, snitch sympathizers, collaborators, informants allowed in the space.

* No Snitching. Period.

* No entering the back parking lot -- it's a residential neighborhood, please respect the neighbors' wishes.

* Don't be a jackass in the neighborhood, save that for downtown.

* No loitering out front -- cross the street to smoke.

* Assume positive intent.

* No companion animals in the space.

* Folks who have an open accountability process are not welcome.

Housing will be available to those who RSVP'd and then on a first come first serve basis thereafter. To reserve a spot, please RSVP using the housing form found here: http://selfdescribed.org/?page_id=407

Please check in at the convergence space to obtain details on your housing.

Please come prepared to sleep on floors. We encourage folks to bring sleeping bag/blankets; sleeping pad; pillow. We cannnot provide those for you.

The following meals will be provided by DC NE FNB:

Snacks on Friday at the Rally post Run on the Bank (Murrow Park, 18th and H ST NW)
Dinner on Friday at the Convergence Space

Bagged Lunch on Saturday at Murrow Park (18th and H St NW)
Dinner on Saturday at Murrow Park

The meals provided by FNB will be vegan and peanut free.

We encourage folks to bring food to share and will have a shared food section at the Convergence Space. If food is homemade, please label ingredients.

Breakfast will be the gifts of the dumpster and donation goddesses. It may or may not be vegan/peanut free. If you require breakfast and have specific dietary concerns, please plan accordingly.

Water will be available throughout the Anticap. games, however, we encourage folks to bring their own.

A legal hotline will be operational as of 12:30 PM on Friday and will continue to operate through the Closing Ceremony on Saturday. If folks are still in jail (we hope not!) after that, we will have it operating on an as needed basis. We will release the number later this week.

There are a number of ways to get plugged into the legal organizing. On Friday, there will be a legal team meeting and training during Workshop block 1 at the Convergence Space. No experience is necessary to help out on the legal front. You can work on the legal team as either a legal observer, legal hotline worker or do jail support. We will provide all necessary trainings.

A Know Your Rights Training will take place over dinner at the convergence space on Friday evening. We encourage all folks to attend.

Please note: we cannot commit to court support after initial arraignment. We are not attorneys nor do we have the capacity to find attorneys for you. With that said, we will try to help out in whatever way we can if you have to come back to DC, but we are not a legal support collective and cannot take on a full post arraignment court support campaign. We apologize in advance, but we think it's better to be honest with what we can and can't do then to lead people on to believe that all legal support will be provided for you.

Both marked and unmarked medics will be at the Anticapitalathon games.

If you would like to be a medic, and have been trained as a street medic in the past, please come to the convergence space on Friday and meet up with the medics. There will be an initial medic meeting at 10am Friday at the convergence space.

A Safety in the Streets Training will be provided during Workshop Block 1 at the Convergence Space on Friday. This is not a medic training.

The medics are coming prepared with kits, however, they can always use more equipment. If you have access to any of the following, please bring to the Convergence Space:
* Roller Gauze
*Nitrile gloves
* Sports Spout (non-used) Water bottles
* Bandages of varying sizes
*Liquid Antacid

Stuff to Bring:
Though not required, we recommend bringing the following:
* Sleeping Bag
*Sleeping Pad
*Change of Clothes
*Spare Socks
*Extra Glasses (no contacts)
* Water based sun screen
* Water Bottle
*Medication (in original container)
* Cell phone charger
* Food to Share
*Toilet Paper to help replenish the reserves at the convergence space and housing hosts
* Snacks
* Balls for the Soccer Game, Baseball Game (balls will be provided, but more is always better)
* Rain gear (in the off chance it rains)
* Protective gear (shin guards, helmet, etc)
* Back pack
* Comfortable shoes
* Bandana(s)
*Watch (punctuality is key)
* Extra car keys
* Dishes, silver/plastic ware, cups for food
* Team uniform, team flag, team signs
* Digital camera or cell phone with video and still photo capability (for the scavenger hunt).
* Cords to download picture from phone/camera to computer

If you are planning on getting around by mass transit on Saturday, we recommend purchasing an all day metro pass. They run for $8.30 and will prove invaluable during the Scavenger Hunt. Otherwise, Metro fares vary depending on how far you are traveling. One way fares start at $1.45. So, if you think you will be making at least 6 trips on the metro on Saturday, an all day pass is a better deal.

Please do not bring illicit drugs or alcohol into the convergence space.
