(en) Turkey, Police brutality and arrests in Sivas after anarchist total objector M. Tarhan's trial

Early in yesterday (26.05) morning, the trial of Mehmet Tarhan was held in
Sivas and the court was postponed to 9th of June. Mehmet Tarhan will (at least)
spend two more weeks in prison. He had also declared that he has started hunger
strike to protest death threats, torture, lynching attempts on him.
Folllowing the court, 3 total/consciencious objectors got arrrested while 30
activists tried not to give them to the cops. At this moment many people got
injured including women. Later another group of 7 people arrested in the
police station in which they have gone to take their objector friends. All
were accused of "resisting police" and although the public prosecutor
asked for their arrest, the judge released them.

However 3 total/consciencious objectors were taken to
the military office and they were also released but
their ID cards were kept telling them to visit the
office next day to finish up the procedure of sending
them to "their" troops. Late at night another objector
also got arrested while he was sleeping in minibus.
Following the same procedure like the other 3
objectors, his ID card was also taken and have to
"visit" military office today. Currently all are on
the way to their homes.

Today in Istanbul there'll be a picket/demo in
Istanbul organized by IHD (Human Rİghts
Association) with support of Solidarity Initiative
with Mehmet Tarhan. Also on Saturday the Initiative
will organize another demo in Istanbul.
