Yesterday (30th of April) evening several hundred people continued
Reclaim the City-party in Helsinki by occupying a former youth
center in Käpylä region. Aim of occupiers is to set up a social center
in the house, but really occupation is more like a symbolic act, goal
of which is to create pressure which may increase opportunities
of setting up a new social centres in future. These kind of symbolical
mass occupations have become a sort of new tradition in Helsinki,
6th of December a house was occupied for one evening in very
center of the city, last june a former fire station was held several
days after a RTC party. Besides this new one, there are currently at least
3 illegal squatted buildings in Helsinki, one of which a social center,
former kindergarden occupied by old squatters organisation Oranssi (Orange)
last year was quickly legalised and recently opened as a social center.

Also 30th of April, another group of 30 people occupied
a house in Eipilä are of Tampere. Occupiers want to set up
radical library and cafe in a house which is ordered to be demolished.
This would be very important, since city of Tampere is billing all
local organisations for meeting rooms, so there is no place for
organisations without grants to gather. This occupation is "politically
independent", but because of explicit rejection of party politics it has
perhaps more anarchist character than Helsinki occupation.
