Autonomous groups from throughout the country are invited to meet to exchange
experiences from the 6th to the 8th of February in the city of Sao Paulo.
We want to know the initiatives that are being developed and to share our
dreams, problems and alternatives. Free radio, feminist collectives, rural
and urban popular movements, among other groups that function
non-hierarchically and that seek to build alternatives to capitalism are
invited. The event will consist of workshops and discussions that will be
proposed by the participants themselves.

The encounter intends to bring together groups and individuals from
throughout Brazil that struggle against capitalism in a form autonomous and
horizontal. The objective is to exchange experiences. This exchange is
important in a time in which the prevailing idea is that political action
is limited to political parties or bureaucratic, hierarchical organizations
that seek parliamentary changes. Though autonomous anti-capitalist groups
know of each other, there is a great lack of face to face contact and
direct exchange of experience. The time is appropriate as well because of
the proximity of ALCA, which must occur at the end of the year, with a
ministerial meeting to be held in Brazil in 2004.

The encounter will not produce a unified manifesto, nor form any time of
federation or organization. The objective is solely the exchange of ideas
and experiences in order to strengthen the movement as a whole. At the end
of the event documents and texts from all the participating groups will be
joined together in order to realize a publication to register and evaluate
this collective experience.

Having seen that the objective of the event is to bring together autonomous
anti-capitalist individuals and groups, the registration of hierarchical
groups or those tied to political parties will not be permitted.

The different discussions will be organized into four principal themes.

- FREE COMMUNICATION experience with means of communication such as free
radio, websites, fanzines, newspapers, independent publishers, ect

- URBAN AND RURAL SOCIAL MOVEMENTS Feminist collectives, gay groups,
political groups, cooperatives, groups that struggle for agricultural
reform, housing movements, unemployed movements, ecological collectives,
anti-prison movements, ect.

-GROWTH OF AUTONOMOUS SPACES (Counter) cultural centers, cyber-cafes,
schools, ect.

campaigns and demonstrations and new methods of action.

All the participating groups can propose activities for the encounter in
the form of discussions, workshops and presentations, among others. The
proposals of activities should be made before the 30th of January (friday).
As space is limited and there may be many registered activities, the
organizers may propose that to or more similar workshops by married into
one. We ask for everyones understanding. A workshop should be registered as
soon as possible in order to facilitate organization.

Activities that do not fit in any of the four themes above but which are
related with autonomous anti-capitalist struggle may be registered normally
- the organizers will seek an appropriate space for them. After the
discussions based in the four themes, there will be discussions about the
campaign against the FTAA - of which the next ministerial meeting will
possibly occur in Brazil in 2004.

The four themes will be distributed among the mornings and afternoons of
the second and third days of the encounter. After the end of every
discussion there will be an interval for snacks and rest. After the second
theme of each day, there will be a discussion about the struggle against
the FTAA. The organization will have the following form:

Friday, 6th of February

19h to 22h Discussion about the dynamic of the encounter, presentation of
the different activities and the different groups will do a brief presentation.

Saturday, 7th february

most interest them.
