Following the demonstrations and events at the G8 in Evian, two
people have been imprisoned, one since 4th September, the other
since 9th September. The judge in the case has extended their
detention for several weeks. They are victims of a
political/police set-up, accused of participating in a riot. One
of them was not even physically present due to illness. They are
being held in isolation with no visiting rights, their homes
were searched and belongings confiscated. It is the most recent
example of a long list of repressive actions which have seen
around fifty people imprisoned (and later released) since the
end of the G8. Geneva is becoming a test laboratory for
repression of all anti-capitalist dissention and resistence:

* publication on the police web site of photos of so-called
"suspects" taken during demonstrations, with an appeal to the
populace to keep their eyes open and report: instigating a
witchhunt;
* use of dangerous arms;
* infiltrators disguised as "Black Bloc";
* total manipulation of information;
* ban on public assemblies of over 5 people various weeks: at
present unauthorized assemblies are forbidden;
* proposal by the Cantonal government to use the army for
maintaining "public order".

We are witnessing a global and growing criminalization of the
social resistence movement with methods which are getting ever
tougher and more intimidatory. At Davos in February 2003, for
example, police began to fire rubber bullets at a train which
was leaving. In Spring 2003, a webmaster was charged with having
launched an appeal to soldiers not to serve during the G8.

Given this situation we are left with one option:

NATIONAL DEMONSTRATION - SUNDAY 21 SEPTEMBER 2003
AT 5.30 PM AT GENEVA STATION

No more repression!!!
Release the prisoners now!!!
