For months Pittsburgh has been organizing against the Free Trade
Area of the Americas to build momentum for the Nov. 20-21st
mega protests in Miami. We realize the tremedous amout of work
that needs to be done in order to have our voices heard in Miami
and we also realize the value in combining the efforts of many and
building networks of support prior to the actual protests. It is with
that in mind that POG would like to extend an invitation to you and
your affinity group to come to Pittsburgh this Nov. 13-18 to assist
local organizers with pre-Miami efforts.
The schedule of events is as follows: Thursday Nov. 13 - Tuesday
Nov. 18th - Pre-Miami Organizing. There is going to be a ton of
work to do as we get ready to go. We're going to: continue local
outreach to the community so that people can have a frame of
reference when they see the media coverage of Miami; hold
trainings for the Padded Bloc, on medical issues, and other
brush-ups; get supplies ready for the trip (kick-ass signs, chalk,
coming up with chants, etc); work out last minute logistics.
Saturday Nov. 15th - Mass March and Rally Against the FTAA.
Pittsburgh is having a march and rally the weekend before Miami.
This is a broad-based effort to tie together various strands of civil
society to stop the FTAA. This is being spearheaded by the
Thomas Merton Center with support from the International
Steelworkers and a diverse range of local groups. Monday Nov.
17th - Smash The FTAA Send Off Party. Our big celebratory bash
for all those heading to Miami, with music, pinatas, and fun.
Tuesday Nov. 18th - Leave for Miami. Around 300 folks will be
leaving from Pittsburgh for Miami. You're welcome to hitch a
roundtrip ride with Pittsburgh folks (~$60?, transportation is being
organized by the Thomas Merton Center) or travel alongside
Pittsburgh in your own vehicle.

We realize traveling to Pittsburgh isn't a feasible option for
everyone, but for those who are able we feel this will be an
awesome and rewarding experience.

We will be able to provide housing for the duration of the
