on the first day of barisarock (rockforthepeace)
concerts we have met with few anarchos and went to
sariyer. i were in there only for the first day..... i
don't know what has happened on the 2nd day, how was that.
as there was not so much participation in the meaning
of zines and published materials, we thought it
was needless to pay for 100 million TLs just to sell
3-5 magazines. thanx to Black Paper which has published
its 3rd issue and prepared a poster calling for 27 sep.
global day of action against the war. after copying it
we had distributed 100s to the people waiting
outside in the queue to enter the concert area.
i say "we distributed outside of concert area" because
the bulky guards hired by barisarock organizers did
not let us to take black paper and posters inside.u
may guess the reason... later we were able to put in
Black Paper(s) on the quiet through the fence and
distributed inside, too. ... there was very much
interest for the paper so it was consumed very
quickly.

i will also talk about a significant detail...in the
area i personally saw just 1 black paper which was
torn and thrown away.but except this i saw lots of
bak leaflets etc. on the ground...this probably shows
the interest of people...

.....

entering the area anarchists came together, joined and
prefered to move all together. A black flag on which
there was the logo of Black Paper was carried from
hand to hand all day during the concert. In breaks of
the concert many slogans were shouted. Some of the
friends insisted on shouting the slogan of "no war
class war"...... As a different slogan "Coca Cola
bottle, Molotov bottle" was also shouted.

For a while we had organized an anarchist soccer event
but teams mixed up,some of the goals were not counted,
none knew which was goal which was not.

Although ödp and anticapitalists [*] tried to make
things to move on according to their policies, the
organization was good.

These were my impressions from the first day.

[barisarock-rockforthepeace concerts were organized in
Istanbul as an alternative against the rock'ncoke
organized by coca cola company during the same days
(6-7 sep.). Organizers were mostly some dissident
people and socialists; there were also
anarchist/libertarian minded singers and bands such as
Kazim Koyuncu, Yasar Kurt and Kara Gunes(Black Sun)]
