Hi all, Just a reminder about the next... Jura Books Mtg 5.30-7pm,
Friday 16th May, @ Jura Books, 440 Parramatta Rd Petersham
[If you can, bring along $3-5 to put in for dinner and
drinks to make this Friday night meeting relaxed and enjoyable.]
This will be the first meeting after the Open Night,
and people who are interested in getting involved are
encouraged to attend.
The main issue for discussion is: "What are the major
priorities for the next few months?"
Some ideas that have already been flagged include:
1. Organising regular openning hours for the shop, and
improving advertising for the shop and postal orders.
2. Dedicating 10% of all book sales towards
improvement of the space and other projects.
3. Building improvements, including: knocking out a
wall upstairs to make a meeting room, repainting the
inside of the building, repainting the shopfront,
repairing the library floor and roof.
4. Getting the organising centre up and running:
organising computers with Matthew Davidson, perhaps
another phone line, making a usable meeting space,
etc.
5. Continuing work on the library: moving and/or
storing boxes, cataloguing library, sorting boxes of
discarded books
6. More Open Nights: series of two next time:
"Political Art and Posters", and "The Womens
Movement"? Could organise similar event to last time:
speakers, food, historial posters and archives, etc.
7. A huge book sale - books discarded from library,
plus new books, plus posters...
8. Holding some planning meetings for each of our
major projects: i. Organising Centre, ii. Libary, iii.
Jura Bookshop.
Anyway, that's just a few ideas.
Hope to see you there,
Nick
