ABOUT ERIC DROOKER

Eric Drooker's paintings are seen on covers of The New Yorker, The
Progressive, The Village Voice and numerous other magazines, as well as in
the pages of The Nation and World War 3 Illustrated.

He is the author of the American Book Award-winning collection, Flood! A
Novel in Pictures; Illuminated Poems (with Allen Ginsberg); Street Posters
& Ballads; and Blood Song: A Silent Ballad. He gives slide lectures at
schools and cultural centers worldwide.

On May 16th & 18th, he will "project hundreds of his narrative images,
which combine the concrete reality of urban existence with visionary
flights of imagination," and accompany himself with spoken word and a
harmonica.

Allen Ginsberg says of Drooker's book, Flood! A Novel in Pictures: "Eric
Drooker's scratchboard graphics in the lineage of Frans Masereel, Rockwell
Kent and Lynd Ward, update their millenial Blakeian visions of Moloch to
our contemporary homeless streets, Lower East Side tenements, and parks
occupied by police." Drooker's work is praised by artists like Art
Spiegelman, creator of MAUS, Sue Coe, Lucy R. Lippard, and Joe Sacco, who
says Drooker's newest book, Blood Song, "is the work of an artist of the
first order at his maturity."

On May 16th, Montreal cabaret artist and author Norman Nawrocki, will read
excerpts from his newest book, "The Anarchist & The Devil Do Cabaret", and
accompany himself on his amplified, sampled violin. Nawrocki returns from
a cross-Canada tour to support the book. The Globe & Mail calls Nawrocki
"a born showman whose audiences never pass a dull evening." On May 18th,
Eric Drooker will be joined by local artists at Wired on Words, including
Arab hip-hop crew Euphrates, originally from Baghdad, as well as DJ Static
of Wefunk on CKUT (and the Montreal Bookfair Collective!).
