i heard there were arrests too.
At 8:45 am, a roving band of approximately 20 people blocked Amsterdam
and 62nd with lots of garbage and other debris. They then did a quick
die-in at 66th and Columbus (9:30) and stopped traffic for a while
before running away. They are now headed north to hit more
intersections.

At around 10 AM, there was a roving blocakde of Broadway and Prince
Street in SoHo. Over 50 people blockaded with their bodies, garbage
cans, tape and garbage as hundreds of people ascending from the subway
watched. I gave out fliers about the war and got many a 'thank-you'
from people who clearly were against this war on Iraq. The chants of
"no blood for oil" made it obvious to all why people felt the need to
disrupt everyday life.

Blockades were established at Bowery and Spring Street , Spring and
Crosby and Houston and West Broadway between 7 and 8:30AM. The
barricades were short lived but suceeded in stopping traffic and
disrupting business as usual while they lasted. The West Broadway &
Houston barricade was dismantled by one particularly obnoxious SUV
driver. The blockades consisted of newspaper boxes, garbage cans and
wooden saw horses.

M27 8:47am Report of people on bicyclists kicking trash cans into
street at 26th and Broadway.

M27 8:53am Southbound traffic at Broadway and 20th was briefly blocked
a half-hour ago by debris strewn by protesters.
