Radio show with interview from someone in No One is Illegal - Montreal, an
anti-authoritrian group. D. W.
> From: Stefan Christoff <christoff@dojo.tao.ca>
An interview with Rabie Masri an organizer with the Coalition Against the
Deportation of Palestinian Refugees in Montreal. Currently in Montreal,
Quebec there are over 100 Palestinian refugees facing deportation in the
coming days, weeks and months. Most of the refugees are from the refugee
camps of Lebanon and from Occupied Palestine. They have claimed refugee
status in Canada over the last couple of years. Systematically Palestinian
refugee claims are being rejected by Immigration Canada post September
11th. The Palestinian refugees are currently building support & solidarity
with groups, organizations and individuals in Montreal and beyond.
The Palestinian refugees in Lebanon are forbidden from owning property,
working in over 78 professions, receiving proper health care, and moving
and traveling freely. These are only a few of the persecutory measures and
discriminatory restrictions the Palestinian refugees have to face in
Lebanon. Moreover, the intensified mistreatment of Palestinian refugees
inside the camps has left their lives in real and immediate peril.
Those Palestinians who have escaped the dire situation in the Occupied
Territories, very little need be said as to the terror they face daily and
routinely. They have fled from the killings, extrajudicial assassinations,
house demolitions, illegal arrests, trials without evidence, torture, land
confiscation, and constant humiliations.

-> Palestinian Refugees facing deportation from Canada
This event will focus on the struggle against the imminent deportation of
Palestinian refugees from Canada. Currently in Montreal, over 100
Palestinian refugees are facing deportation in the coming days, weeks and
months. Most of the refugees are from the camps of Lebanon and Occupied
Palestine. They have claimed refugee status in Canada over the last couple
of years, and systematically, their claims are being rejected by
Immigration Canada post 9/11.
The Palestinian refugees facing deportation are self-organizing, with
their allies, in the past several months. They will publicly launch their
campaign at this public assembly. The event will be a space to build
support and solidarity within Montreal and beyond for the campaign to
fight the deportation of Palestinian refugees. The focus will be on
building links between other ongoing campaigns and community mobilizations
fighting for the rights of immigrants & refugees such as the fight of the
non-status Algerians in Montreal who continue to struggle against
Immigration Canada's efforts to deport them.
There will also be a screening of video footage that shows the current
realities of Palestinian refugee camps.
Organized & supported by:
* The Coalition Against the Deportation of Palestinian Refugees
* Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights (SPHR)
* The No One Is Illegal Campaign of Montreal
