> The WTO will be in Montreal in less than three weeks for their "mini-ministerial"
> Get involved in organizing a "mega-protest"!
The next organizing assembly of the Montreal Mobilization Against the WTO
will be TUESDAY, July 15 at 6:30pm (sharp). The assembly will take place
at L'X (182, Ste-Catherine East, between metros St-Laurent and
Berri-UQAM). Childcare is available (please contact us in advance at
514-409-2049 or resisteomc@resist.ca). Translation is available into
English and Spanish.
The organizing assembly is one the best places to plug into anti-WTO
organizing in Montreal. Dozens of local activists, affiliated with several
social justice, anti-capitalist and anti-war groups, are busy planning for
5 days of action against the WTO between July 26 to July 30, including
teach-ins, workshops, demonstrations, street parties and direct actions.

To get involved, attend the upcoming organizing assemblies (July 15 and
July 23). There are several active committees that need your help: popular
education, media, logistics, medical, legal and more ...

The basis of unity of the organizing assembly is the Peoples' Global
Action (PGA) Hallmarks (see http://www.agp.org), a set of principles which
have evolved out the struggles in the global south. They are as follows:

1. A very clear rejection of capitalism, imperialism and feudalism; all
trade agreements, institutions and governments that promote destructive
globalisation;

2. We reject all forms and systems of domination and discrimination
including, but not limited to, patriarchy, racism and religious
fundamentalism of all creeds. We embrace the full dignity of all human
beings.

3. A confrontational attitude, since we do not think that lobbying can
have a major impact in such biased and undemocratic organisations, in
which transnational capital is the only real policy-maker;

4. A call to direct action and civil disobedience, support for social
movements' struggles, advocating forms of resistance which maximize
respect for life and oppressed peoples' rights, as well as the
construction of local alternatives to global capitalism;

5. An organisational philosophy based on decentralisation and autonomy.
