Anarchists from Malatya (an Eastern Anatolia city) showed their existence
with attending to the peace demo in Malatya which was organized by AntiWar
Democracy Platform. After Mayday 2002, it was the second demo in which they
attended with their own banners. The demonstration started at 13:30.
Demonstrators started to march in corteges and the demo began after the
groups gathered in the square. It was the anarchists in the front line
carrying their own banners; a banner 180 cm. in length writing "No to the
war" with peace signs. In addition, there were 5 smaller placards with
writings of "no war" (in Turkish and also English) and peace signs. There
was also another placard with the writing "to the waste basket" with a
rifle. During the demo leftist groups and cops targeted us. Cops were
watching for us carefully and they asked about the peace signs. The reason
for this was probably our banner which was different from all the other
classical banners.. We were 12 but our noise was bigger. We were all dressed
in black (not because of the reason that we are color fetisists but rather
we are still in the beginning of the road in Malatya). During the march and
in the square we shouted as "we will not be soldiers of america",
"conscience objection is our power", "death to american imperialism", "long
live people's brotherhood" etc. It was really enjoyable moment for all of
us.. We proved our existence to all friends and enemies.. This is important
because before that other groups were looking down on us. On Mayday we were
5 and today 12; in future we'll be more than that. But not in the way of
leftists; we'll exist in the way of liberty and with the philosophy of
anarchism.
LONG LIVE LIBERTY, LONG LIVE ANARCHY!
