Friends of the Woodwards Squat http://www.woodsquat.net
We are compiling a comprehensive collection of writing, interviews,
photographs, posters and flyers, video and audio recordings, press releases
and statements, artefacts, graffiti, and other documents in all media to be
made available to people working on critical documentary studies of the
Woodwards Squat. Woodsquat Editions will be issuing a catalogue of our
resources in Spring 2003. We hope these resources will allow for more
detailed accounts of the 92-day squat action and a new series of
publications.

Resources thus far include:

- Unpublished written accounts of the squat by residents and supporters.
- Audio interviews with Lacey, Craig Ballantyne, Chrystal Durocher, Chris
Keats, Liz Brown, Kaspar Learn, Ricky Lavallie, Jack Van Der Hyde, Chris
Barton, Kerry Pakarinen, Roy Archie, Travis Geib, Davin Ouimet, Claude
Maurice, and "A Native Man." (More to follow!)
- Audio recordings and transcripts of rally speeches by Kaspar Learn, Nathan
Garfat, Jim Leyden, Bev Meslo, Ivan Drury, Chris Livingstone, Toe Cutter,
Rick Howard, Skyy Mott, Sky Noralwright, Doris Louis, Ellen Woodsworth and
others.
- 23 audio recordings of witness statements from the second police eviction
of 22 September.
- Audio recordings from the lively Squat Poetry Nights on 21 October & 29
November.
- Nine short video documentaries produced by IMC, Working TV, and Elisha
Burrows.
- Vancouver Police Department video recordings of the inside eviction and
arrests of 21 September.
- Video recording of "The Woodwards Squat and the Media" presentation at
Video In.
- Audio & video recordings of Woodwards Squat Negotiation Team members
interviewed on Co-op Radio on 12 December & CBC on 13 December.
- 150 articles from The Carnegie Newsletter, The Vancouver Sun, People?s
Voice, The Province, APC Newsletter, The Globe & Mail, Toronto Star, The
Vancouver Courier, Westender, The Georgia Straight, The Peak, BC Christian,
Terminal City Weekly, The National Post, Obstruction of In-Justice, and
Vancouver Magazine.
- Hundreds of legal documents from the BC Housing injunction and the City of
Vancouver injunction application and proceedings.
- 54 issues of the Woodsquat newsletter
- Copies of the "Truth Media" broadside (Days 10-12, 20, 49 & 56).
- Statements, reports, minutes, correspondence, posters and flyers from the
Coalition of Woodwards Squatters and Supporters, Woodwards Social Housing
Coalition, Woodwards Legal Defense Committee, Woodwards Witness Shift
Committee, Friends of the Woodwards Squat, Anti-Poverty Committee, Pivot
Legal Society, Portland Hotel Society, First United Church, The City of
Vancouver, Coalition of Progressive Electors, and other organizations.
- Dozens of anonymous posters, handbills, and other ephemera.

Specific Documentation Wanted:

- More unpublished written accounts and audio interviews.
- Copies of minutes from squat meetings.
- Copies of articles published in Sing Tao Daily.
- Raw video footage and productions by independent videographers.
- Off-air broadcast recordings from CBC, BC CTV, Global TV and other
commerical media outlets.
