My personal reporting:
I arrived at about 15:15 to Chiado metro station, with one of
my daughters and a friend. I found the metro station
full of people who were going to the demo. Soon found
my dear comrades too.
Outside there was already one of our anarchist banners and another
One soon joined it just in front of the metro entrance.
The people looked to our group with curiosity and accepted our manifesto
(Libertarians against all wars: a manifesto subscribed by dozens of
organisations worldwide ).
With the help of a few comrades, I distributed 600 copies of the
Manifesto in a short time.
There was also the distribution of another pamphlet (?No to War! Yes to Life!?
this title was used for one of our banners). There were banners from
IWA and from CCL (Anarchist Cultural Centre) saying: " Peace amongst
the Peoples, War against Capital!?
We had to wait in the meeting place, Chiado, almost 2 hours before
the crowd ahead of us went through the first street of the itinerary.
Many people commented the fact that in a CP bloc ahead of our bloc,
there were about one hundred militants, almost all with a party flag.
We just brought one black flag with the circled A, apart from the
banners with slogans against war.
I have no accurate counting on how many anarchists were in
our block; for sure we were over 200!
Our sector of the march was, no doubt, the most colourful, gay and
noisy. We shouted " Peace amongst the peoples, war against
capitalism?, "Against war and capitalism, social revolution?
and "Anarchy! Anarchy!"
There were many people that has chosen to participate in the demo
Along our banners. People that I never saw before in demos.
Also people that I vaguely knew but didn?t know they were assumed
anarchists (and they were, only from another generation!)
libertárias (mas são, apenas pertencem a uma outra geração!).
People that yelled with us the revolutionary slogans without hesitation.
Our leaflets were sought after, and people asked for more to give to
friends. They also come to us spontaneously and chatted with us.
Na old lady that I never seem before, told me ?You know, I listened
In the radio, a while ago, that a MP from the governmental party
(Rightist) was saying that we were only ?hippies?, so -she said-
we are all hippies!!!? I laughed and answered: ?Peace and Love!?
and we hugged each other.
?Saúde e Anarquia!?
