INTERNATIONAL ANARCHIST MEETING EASTERN EUROPE
Friday 27.06- Monday 30.06, 2003
Just 1576 km. north of Thessaloniki!

The purpose of the meeting is to strengthen ties between anarchists and
anti-authoritarians in Eastern Europe and even beyond! We want to exchange
information and experiences, make contacts, better develop existing projects
and investigate areas of cooperation and resistance for the future!
In addition to networking meetings and discussions, we will include
some activities open to general participation; these will include (but are
not limited to) exhibits, a demonstration against the visa regime, video
showings, a lecture on anarchist history in Poland and whatever else people
are inclined to organize!
At some point, special attention will be paid to the fact that our
comrades to the east of Poland will now have to face a more restrictive
regime and we would like to dedicate some time to evolving practical
strategies to overcoming these new barriers.
The dates of the meeting have been called to coincide with the start of
the new visa regime in Poland. This meeting is meant to be an act of
resistance; international solidarity is the best way to fight the borders
that the state is trying to make between us!
As we favour a decentalized process of organization, we highly
encourage people to join in and put on a workshop, propose their topics or
items for the agenda, bring something to present and to think about social
events, contact with the public. Anybody can organize what they want and are
interested in - we only ask for notice so we can spread information and
organize some logistic matters such as space. So if you're interested in
taking a more active part in the process, let us know!

*
WHAT ME????? - ORGANIZE SOMETHING???
I WANNA KNOW WHAT WILL BE READY FOR ME WHEN I COME!

Well, it's gotta start somewhere, and somebody's gotta put on the
ideas --- you don't expect just to listen to some boring folks from Warsaw
do you? The more ideas people from different places have, the more
interesting it will be. So far we have a just a few volunteers but we expect
that after this mailing we'll get and few more and that the list of events
will grow. (Please note that the scheduled dates of workshops may change.)

something about their experiences.
Of course it's not run for guys only...

information will become clearer soon.

Please note that there are some people who would like to organize other
events in Warsaw at that time to run parrallel to or around the time of
these above-mentioned events. We have no concrete information about any of
these events yet but we will be glad to inform people as soon as we know
anything. We are sure that some of them will also be of interest.

ORGANIZATIONAL NOTES

Dates of mass mailing: February 15, April 15, June 1. Of course you may
request info at any time. We ask for proposals and feedback by April 10
(e-mail - slightly earlier by post), so that we may include items in the
April mailing. Please note that as most people will choose to attend or not
based on the April mailing, we ask that submissions and proposals be made
before then. The June mailing should already be final information.

So if you would like to propose something, the more info the better. More
details on the existing proposals will go out at the time of the mailings.
As a rule, if you want us to publicize your event, you should tell us the
following:

SIZE/SPACE/EQUIPMENT NEEDED

OTHER:

In general, we need advance notice for special requirements - this includes
space requirements. We will try to have some space available for small
ad-hoc meetings but this may be limited. We, being veteran anarchists, know
damned well that many people will show up at the last minute without warning
and expect food, housing, space, translators, equipment etc. and probably be
pissed off if they don't find it. So we'd like to stress that we're not
professional party organizers or some NGO with a professional budget and the
organizational aspects depend on all of the participants --- not some
mythical "organizers". The culture of the meeting should hopefully be one of
engagement, cooperation and mutual aid. So please do help out and cooperate
in this aspect; questionnaires will be available via mail and internet later
on but also an e-mail to let us know how many people are coming would be
helpful. Enough of the lecture. J

DONATIONS/FEE

We reserve the right to set a small fee for the meeting. Nobody will be
turned away if they cannot pay this fee, hence we can rather call it a
'strongly suggested donation". Accounting of money collected and expenses
will be available to each participant of the conference upon request. If
there are no outstanding debts or money needed at the time of conference,
participants may choose to reassign excess funds to another project or
cause.
Any person wishing to help with finances is encouraged to join in the
decision-making process.

LANGUAGE

The three official languages of correspondence are English, Polish and
Russian. That doesn't mean that information in other languages may not
appear or be posted on our web pages - by all means send info in different
languages! We will try to be as accomodating as possible to people who speak
different languages but the fact is that people need to help out and help
themselves in this area as much as possible. If you would like to receive
information in Polish or Russian instead of or in addition to English,
please let us know.
