From: Dorothy Naor <dor_naor@n...>
The Israeli radio news reported the events at Budrus this morning, but claimed
that the military's violence was a reaction to rocks being thrown at them. The
contrary is true. The protest was NON-VIOLENT and the rock throwing began as a
reaction to the tear gas, firing of rubber bullets and LIVE ammunition, beatings, and stun grenades.
Yesterday at the Budrus attempts to protect its trees*, 7 Palestinian youth were
injured by the military, today the number estimated is over 40, most not
seriously, but since activities are continuing, it is impossible to know yet for certain.
Three Israelis, 4 Palestinians, and 5 internationals (including the Swedish
member of Parliament) have been detained. At this writing, they are still at
Budrus, being held apart from the others, but from where they can see the
battling continuing--villagers, internationals, and Israelis ALL UNARMED--trying
to protect themselves and Budrus's trees and lands from Israeli military
violence.
Please phone phone phone and write write write. PASS ON THE INFORMATION AND
PROTEST NUMBERS as widely as possible. Make this count.
And don't forget on Saturday to come to Deir Balut if you can, and if you can't,
to keep your ears close to the radio. The PROTEST CONTINUES ON SATURDAY at Deir
Balut over the expropriation of Palestinian lands and the construction of the
Wall in general and over the expropriation of Deir Balut's lands and the
construction of the wall at Deir Balut in particular.
PLEASE DO YOUR PART, EITHER BY COMING OR BY GETTING THE NEWS OUT AS WIDELY AS
POSSIBLE, and of course by WRITING AND PHONING TO PROTEST!
Sincerely, Dorothy

* [Ed Notes:
On yesterday action the wall builders were blocked.
"The bulldozers moved into the Palestinian Christian village of Burdos, near
Ramallah, on Tuesday, to begin preparing the ground for a new segment of the
fence, Israel Radio reported.
The clashes began Tuesday when several dozen protesters Israelis and locals
arrived at the site to stop the bulldozers from uprooting an olive grove in
the area, the radio said".
In to day's incident, the 500 or so protesters - local villagers, Israelis of
the Anarchist Against The Wall initiative, and Internationalists of the Solidity
Movement. After two hours of harassment by soldiers who injured 60 of the participants
with tear gas and rubber bullets (including two Israelis) some of the participants
start to threw stones that injured two soldiers.
The main Israeli radio channel reporting widely about the clash - including
interviewing live one of the injured villagers.
