Stop the War! Fight the System!
Call to Action for May 4 Weekend in Kent, Ohio!
         May 4 is a historic day of resistance against U.S. imperialist
war.  On that day in 1970 the National Guard opened fire on people who
were resisting the Vietnam War.  Today, another unjust war rages on.
This time the victims of the United States are the people of Iraq.  Over
2,000 civilians have been killed as a result of the bombing and land
campaigns in Iraq. But the people of the world have not gone along with
Bush and company’s plans.
         Resistance to this war has been worldwide and massive.  From the
streets of Calcutta, India to the avenues of San Francisco, California
people have met the U.S.’s plans for Iraq with anger, outrage, and
disobedience.  On February 15, March 5, and many other days of
international protest the people rose up by the millions in a fashion
never seen before in history.  The people’s opposition to this war was not
only ignored but attacked.  People all across the U.S. have been arrested
for protesting this unjust war on
Iraq including three in Cleveland who are facing felony charges!  All the
while repression against Muslims, Arabs, and South Asians continues in
immigrant detention centers around the country.

         Now the war has entered a new stage.  The entire “War on
Terrorism” is part of the U.S. ruling class’s plans to further dominate
and control the globe.  With their global economic order threatened with
crisis, and an increase in competition between nation-states, the U.S. is
attempting to cash in its chips from winning the Cold War.  Now we have a
war without end that threatens every corner of the globe and targets
anyone who goes up against it.

Those in power are now attempting to occupy the nation of Iraq.  Just
like Israel occupies Palestine and the
cops occupy many of our own neighborhoods, the U.S. will use it’s troops
to dominate and control an entire people.  Any government the U.S.
installs in Iraq won’t be used to liberate anyone. It will only further
the interests of those who seek power, money, and oil.

         But just like the people of Palestine and those who protested
Vietnam on May 4, 1970, our resistance must continue.  Come to Kent, Ohio
for May 3 and May 4 for a weekend of discussion and action to take on
this entire “War on Terrorism.”  The “Throwing a Wrench into the War
Machine” conference will be on May 3 and it will be followed with a day
of action against the war on May 4.  Kent State was a historic moment in
stopping the Vietnam War in 1970; let’s make it the same for this war!
