In Kista, Stockholm, a blockade around the an Ericsson factory area was held
yesterday as a part of several days of actions against war, and the
institutions and companies that support it. One of Ericssons subsidiarys,
Ericsson Microwave Systems manufactures war-material for amongst other
Great Britain. The action, which gathered 300 participants was called by
amongst other the Syndicalist Youth Federation, Anarchist Federation of
Stockholm and Globalisation from Below.

During 2001 Sweden exported weaponry worth about 3 billion SEK. Ericsson
and Saab are responsible for most of the exports. A "die-in" was also
held later the same day outside a Saab factory in a Stockholm industrial
area. Earlier in the morning a symbolic funeral was held outside the main
entrance of Saab premises in the city of Linköping
A die-in, complete with fake blood, was also held outside the danish
consulate in Malmö in protest against the Danish' state's participation
in the mass murder on the Iraqui population. In a press statement
the action group proclaims that "something is rotten in the state of
Denmark", but not only there, but also in the state of Sweden - the
government say that they are against the war, but still they refuse to
stop the export of war material - and something is also rotten "in
every state!".
Last friday activists blocked the main entrance of the city hall of the
northern town of Luleå when it had became clear that the municipal
council would keep commune stocks in companies that profit from the
war. Some of the politicians confronted the activists physically,
scuffling and beating them to get through the blockade.
Demonstrations continue to be held all over Sweden, with the next
date being 12th of April, which thousands of citizens are expected
to attend to show their hatred for militarism, imperialism and war.
