WORKSHOP ON PROTEST AND THE LAW FOR NO-WTO ACTIVISTS

Coming to the no WTO actions? Want to know more about your legal rights,
and the police's legal responsibilities in a protest situation? This
workshop is for you...

when:             1pm Sunday 27 October 2002
where:       Midnight Star Social Centre, 55-57 Parramatta Road Homebush

what:             An afternoon workshop dealing with direct action and the 
law to assist in preparations for the no-WTO actions on November 14-15.

We will cover issues such as arrest - how to respond to it or how to avoid
it; potential charges; the right to remain silent; going to court. We will 
also talk about useful stuff like the concept of 'reasonable force', and 
outline the official complaint channels for maintaining police 
accountability.

Practical strategies for supporting other protesters, and dealing with
police during the actions and afterwards, will also be discussed.
