Anarchist Movement, Groups and Organizations On November 9th, anarchists from
Pittsbourgh (KS), Topeka (KS), Independence (MO), Salina (KS), Kansas City
(MO), Kansas City (KS), Wichita (KS), Lawrence (KS), Newton (KS), and Omaha
(NE) converged on Lawrence, Kansas for the Kansas Anarchist Caucus. These
Groups represented Kansas City Food Not Bombs, the React Infoshop, Mother
Earth Library, Black Cat Collective, Lawrence ABC, Lawrence IWW, Yard Gnome
Collective, and Pittsburgh Food Not Bombs. The meeting included three
workshops and a strategy session, the goal of which was to form a network of
anarchists in the Kansas region. The outcome of the meeting was as follows:
1. Establishment of a network called the Great Plains Anarchist Network. 2.
The body of the GPAN will be made up of a grouping of autonmous groups,
collectives, and individuals who are commited to undertake concrete projects
to bring anarchy into being. 3. The GPAN will hold no specific anarchist
ideology, but will instead advocate the application of anti-authoritarianism
to all aspects of life. The GPAN is non-sectarian. 4. The GPAN is
revolutionary in that it desires a revolutionary new anarchist society, but
does not dismiss reforms that better people's everyday lives. Affiliates of
GPAN are encouraged to participate in political and social movements/groups
which aren't necessarily anarchist, while maintaining our dedication to
anti-authoritarianism and direct action. 5. GPAN will be self-critical and
maintain an open dialogue. 6. General meetings will be held every six months
and these caucuses will not have decision making authority over local groups
and individuals. these meetings will rotate locations. 7. It is up to GPAN
affiliates to evaluate modern day society and decide how
anti-authoritarianism will be applied, and act upon their decisions.

The GPAN is a network tool for bringing together autonomous anarchist
collectives, groups, and individuals to help facilitate dialogue and project

The next GPAN meeting is open to any anarchists in the Great Plains and will
be held in Omaha on March 15, 2003.

Look for the new GPAN website to be hosted on www.kansasanarchist.net in the
very near future. Solidarity.
