Stockholm: Against Israel's Occupation of Palestine Demonstration
Saturday, 29 September 2001
One year after the current Palestinian Intafada began, 750 people
demonstrated in central Stockholm against the continued Israeli
occupation of Palestine.
Starting in the central city with speeches, the demo then proceeded
to the traditional workers quarter on the island of Södermalm. The
leading banner was "Condemn Israel's Politics of
Occupation" and chants such as "Intafada shows the
way" and "Sharon Fascist and Murderer" echoed in the busy shopping streets.
The demonstration was organised by, amongst others, The Syndicalist Youth
Federation (SUF), Jews for Peace and several Palestinian groups.
