Censorship on call centre workers:
Further attack by ISI Marketing on “hotlines”-website
The company ISI Marketing still tries to prevent the
publication of a leaflet on the lousy working
conditions in its call centres in Bochum, Essen and
Duesseldorf (Germany). It tries to force the provider
www.free.de, which hosts the website with the leaflet,
to take it of the net.
First ISI had got a court injunction against the terms
“shitty job” (Scheissjob) and “lousy sweatshop” (miese
Bude). Now the company is sulking again and started
more legal procedures against the expression
“black-mailing ‘contract for average sales-rate’".
That description is about the fact that ISI-workers
first have to work for one week without payment
(ISI-jargon: “free of charge”) selling
magazine-subscriptions. After that they only get hired
if they meet a certain sales average. Whoever does not
meet it can go home after one week’s work without a
penny and without a contract!
ISI is not willing to understand that the people from
www.free.de have nothing to do with the leaflet. That
and other leaflets and reports get published on the
website
www.free.de/prol-position
which is used for the exchange of information and
reports and the self-organising of workers against
exploitation. The leaflets and reports on call centres
are published by a group under the name ?otlines?
Behind the ISI-attacks on www.free.de and “hotlines”
stands the fact that ISI Marketing is part of a
company group that is trying to expand and wants to
present itself shortly as ISI AG (plc). Of course, in
that situation it does not fit in the marketing drive
when the lousy conditions in the ISI call centres are
discussed publicly.
* Let’s put a spoke in their (and other call centres)
wheel!
Many of you are also working in call centres. How are
the conditions there? How are workers trying to fight
collectively? Write reports, send them round, publish
them!
* Put a link on the “hotlines”-website
By attacking the “hotlines”-website and -leaflet ISI
wants to make workers shut up who do not put up with
the shit and look for chances for collective struggles
against exploitation.
* Support www.free.de!
A left-wing provider (who does not make any money with
the websites...!) is being put under pressure. He is
supposed to stop giving goups like “hotlines” the
chance to publish texts against exploitation.
www.free.de does cool things. The legal battle costs
money! Donate some!
