Quebec City, july 23th 2001 - Between 100 and 200 people (it's hard to
evaluate a crowd!) have demonstrate today against the police murder of Carlo
Giuliani last Friday in Genoa during the anti-G8 demos. The demonstration was
organised by the Northeastern Federation of Anarcho-communists (NEFAC) and some
autonomous anarchists but other groups such as Gauche Socialist and OQP-2001
where there also.
After a gathering at the bibliothèque Gabrielle-Roy at 12h30, demonstrators
took the bus -in two groups - to the Italian Consulate in Quebec City (wich is
in fact a pribvate house in Limoilou). There, a gathering with many speechs was
held and people came back down town as a demo while listening to traditional
anarchist and italian revolutionnary songs. After more than an hour march, a
good part of the demonstration didint have enough of it and so continue the
demo to the Place d'Youville, then to the Mc Donald on St-Jean street and
end-up at the US Consulate (there was still 25 people!).
In general, it was a good red and black demo... similar demos where organised
by NEFAC in Montreal and Boston (and comrade join in other demo in Toronto and
New York).
