Anti-roads site in Brugge, Belgium
'Lappersfront' Vs. Industry and New Motorway
August 18, 2001
This week activists from the 'Lappersfront' in Brugge, Belgium,
announced they have set up an activist site in a local nature area.
The 'Lappersfort' area, a green oasis in the city, will possibly be
destroyed by the construction of a new motorway bypass and industrial
zone. The activists entered the area early August to contruct
treehouses, so direct eviction will be a problem.
In the meanwhile squatters from the action group Wildgroei are still
occupying a house in Gent, Belgium, to be demolished for the
expansion of the port.
How to get there in Brugge
All help is welcome. The site is not hard to find. From Brugge train
station, go right in the direction of the parking, follow the ring
road. You will end up at a canal, go right on to the Vaartdijk,
follow this for a decent while, on past 'Bombardier' corporation
area, until you see the forrest on your right, and a willow path.
Follow that and you're there. Its a 15 minute walk.
