(en) anarchist group "bad horse" APO: Blood is not water. Memory is not rubbish. The death of Vassilis Mangos is another state crime. [machine translation]

Not a step back against state repression! ---- On June 13, a nationwide march against the burning of garbage by AGET-Lafarge takes place in Volos. The AGET plant, owned by the multinational Lafarge-Holcim, burns rubbish (RDF) in order to produce energy for the operation of the cement kilns, with the result that the region has become a champion in cancer. For years, the residents of Volos, with a series of mass mobilizations have been on the road to the struggle against the destructive - for man and nature - plans of the state, capital, municipal and regional authorities. ---- On Saturday, June 13, thousands of people protested against the burning of garbage from the Volos Hospital to the gate of the AGET factory. Residents, in solidarity with Halkidiki, Karditsa, Patras and Thessaloniki, were there to protest against the looting of nature and society, against the burning of garbage and the cancer generously offered by AGET to the local community.

In a procession attended by thousands of people, families, children, people with disabilities who defend their lives and health against the interests of the bosses, the cops attacked with unprecedented brutality, beating dozens and arresting two people. They did the same and then, the same night, in front of the Volos police station. They opened their heads and sent solidarity to the hospital where they were outside to support the detainees.

The next day, June 14, a rally of solidarity was held with those arrested outside the courthouse in Volos. There, the police attacked the crowd of supporters , while brutally beating the fighter Vassilis Mangos, known to the local authorities for his participation in the movement against garbage burning and his wider involvement in the struggling society of Volos. After being taken to the police station, he is tortured with vengeance, following the repressive orgy of the previous one, and provocatively left outside a building - on the opposite side of the city hospital - with seven broken ribs, a fracture in the liver and gallbladder, without even call an ambulance.

The strike against the struggling residents of Volos on June 13 and 14 demanded the blood of protesters and was another moment of the general repressive campaign of the state against those who resist, another episode of the social war that unleashes the state and capitalist system. which includes the death of thousands, the condemnation of even more to poverty and misery, the total plunder of the natural world.

About a month later, on July 13, Vassilis Maggos is found dead in his home by his mother. The criminal practices of the state mechanisms, however, do not stop here, since during his autopsy various unexplained methods are carried out, his body is kidnapped and transported to Thessaloniki, while the government, through Minister Pro. ??. Chrysochoidis, hurries to anticipate the forensic investigation and acquit Vassilis's torturers.

The torture and death of Vassilis Mangos are the culmination of an organized repression plan by the state so far that aims to suppress social resistance to promote the most destructive investment plans and even greater anti-social policies throughout the country. Policies that focus first and foremost on the struggling world, the poor, the vulnerable, the refugees and immigrants, the entire natural world from one end of the territory to the other.

Characteristic are the recent examples of the state's repressive rage against those who demonstrated on Thursday, July 9 in Athens against the passage of a bill banning demonstrations, as well as those who were found on July 15 in Victoria Square, in anti-fascist rallies and refugees.

For our part, we stood in solidarity with the residents of Volos against the murderous plans of AGET. We demonstrated with Vassilis Mangos and thousands of other people up to the factory gate and experienced first hand the repressive rage of the cops. We know very well in what condition the beating and subsequent torture of Vassilis Mangos took place the next day, as well as what the mafia practice of the local police left him bloodied and helpless on the street, while he had caused damage to vital organs.

Today, we respond to the fighting call of the collectives of Volos so that the death of Vassilis is not forgotten and we shout: The death of Vassilis Mangos is another crime of the state and its mechanisms. Do not forget! Do not be left unanswered!

And a promise: We continue the struggle for a life with dignity, for a society of equality and solidarity, for Earth and Freedom with even greater force...

Vassilis Maggos. Present!
