(en) France, Alternative Libertaire AL #295 - Fascist groups: Decreeing the solution is useless (fr, it, pt)[machine translation]

Date Thu, 13 Jun 2019 11:05:19 +0300

The dissolution of the neo-fascist group pronounced by the Council of Ministers must be taken for what it is: an opportunist and electoral action of Macron and his henchmen giving us, antifascists, a short delay to further strengthen our real struggles. ---- On April 24, the Council of Ministers dissolved the neo-fascist Social Bastion (BS) organization. As a result, the government has tried to offer itself as a defender of democracy inexpensively. Obviously, it would have been more credible had we not learned at the same time that the head of the list for The Republic in March for European, Nathalie Loiseau, had been listed on a student list related to Gud (ancestor of the BS) in his youth or even if the Minister of the Interior did not take over the speech of the nationalists on NGOs helping migrants (see LA of May 2019) ... to take only two examples. It would also be more credible if Médiapart had not revealed that the main motivation for this dissolution is not antiracism or anti-fascism,

This dissolution solves nothing
Born in 2017 following the self-dissolution of the Gud, the BS finds its inspiration in the success of the Italian neo-fascist group CasaPound, known to have copied the " social centers " left (widespread in Italy) by matching them with a identity and nationalist discourse. Thus, the BS is born with the creation, high-profile, of a " squat " reserved for " French-born " in Lyon in April 2017, then relies on local far-right networks to export its franchise to Strasbourg, Chambéry, Marseille, Clermont-Ferrand ... Each opening of places (" squats " or premises in due form) is accompanied by publicity on " social " actions Of the group, very strongly imaginary, but systematically doubled of physical aggression against any resistance (assumed or presumed). While authorities in most cases did not react, residents and local and national anti-fascist networks resisted and counter-attacked - despite state repression.

Dissolution thus arrives after the battle, while the BS mired in the internal conflicts and that the locals closed one after the other under the pressure of the anti-fascist resistance.

Admittedly, the dissolution will, for a time, disorganize the networks of the ultra-right. However, just as after the dissolution of the JNR and the French Opera following the assassination of Clément Méric in 2013, as long as the ground is fertile, these networks are rebuilding, as the short history of the BS proves. And what is more fertile ground than that of a neoliberal government inspired by far-right rhetoric for electoral purposes?

This dissolution solves nothing. Antifascists, we know that we do not have much to expect from the state. It is through our presence and our involvement in anti-fascist and anti-racist struggles as well as through our participation in social movements that we will bring back the brown plague. The success of the various demonstrations against the BS and the various actions undertaken show that victory is possible. Let us take the brief respite left by this dissolution for what it is: time to organize itself in the face of other nationalist, identity and fascist groups. More than ever, let's make sure they do not pass.
