On 30 June, in Kyiv (Kiev),Ukraine, the Conference of Social-Revolutionary Forces was
held. The participants of the Conference comprised a wide array of groups and
organizations either identifying themselves with the Social-Revolutionary ideology or
being interested in cooperation with its adherents. The organizers of the Conference
included the Group “Komuna” [The Commune] and the Storm Committee. ---- The organizations
being in attendance represented different tendencies of revolutionary-socialist,
communist-anarchist, and left-communist thought. ---- In spite of diversity of ideological
nuances, as well as strategic and tactical approaches, the Conference was characterized by
refreshingly constructive attitude of its participants. The main attention was paid not to
historical or abstract philosophical issues, but to the exchange of experiences in
organizing anti-capitalist revolutionary activities and to comparison of mutual positions
with respect to the main problems of Social Revolution.
In particular, the following reports were of great interest to all:
1) The World Situation and the Tasks of Social-Revolutionary Forces;
2) The Perspectives of Social-Revolutionary Movement in Ukraine and the Problems of Its
Social Basis;
3) The Situation in Russia and Its Lessons for Ukrainian Revolutionary Activists;
4) The Psychological Problems of Protest Movement.
The purpose of the Conference was not in adopting some formal resolutions or directives,
but in informing its participants that represented different organizations and strands of
thought, with authentic political positions of each other, in clarifying both real
differences and, which is of utmost importance, the common points among the participating
groups. We believe that the Conference has reached this objective.
The continuation of daily revolutionary activity lies forward, and we hope that the
Conference laid down theoretical and analytical foundations thereof.
