(en) US, Boston, BAAM #36 - Her Name Meant Hope: Nadezhda (Natasha) - Obituary + Monthly Events

Date Sat, 04 Sep 2010 12:14:41 +0300

Her Name Meant Hope: Nadezhda (Natasha) Kirillovna Vinokurova (1924 - 2010) ---- Babushka Natasha, who carried her heart wonder and an immediate eagerness to get ---- Babushka Natasha, who carried her heart out so brightly for all to see the way, crossed over on May 31st in Boston, peacefully, it appears in her sleep. Her life in Ukraine carried through a history of famine, war, and persecution, so much that her 85-year-old arms were becoming heavy and numb, yet her heart remained warm and affirming. It was a blessing for me, her granddaughter, to learn the stories of her wrinkles and the sorrow in her depths,
to feel the fire of her rebellion and the sunshine of her laughter. Her presence was always witty and alert, ready to listen with a great abundance of wonder and an immediate eagerness to get involved and offer help. She would give her
last piece of bread away, once said her mother of her. I cherish her - the joy and love with which she shined, the open heart and courage she taught me. She persevered with great
obstinacy, an outrageous sense of humor, and ineffable sincerity. *Always loving you,
Babushka, with all my tenderness.* *May I walk the path you so clearly revealed in your
unwavering love.* Natasha’s cremation followed on June 8th.

According to her wishes, her ashes were scattered across the seas.
